Wow, this goes right along with the video. That is really a good video, thx for finding that and posting it. I'm sending it some recent grads I know who are thousands, and thousands in debt now. I don't want to burst the bubble of hope and good fortune for them, but sometimes these young folks need some reality as well.

Re: The College Conspiracy VIDEO..WATCH THIS
there was a story that aired super bowl weekend about man that graduated from princeton or somewhere and passed the BAR exam. he found a job making around 18$ an hour. what he found was the legal department in big corporations was hit hard by layoffs and outsourcing. You can't file bankruptcy on student loans, darn!

I am arguing with a jerk on another site about this (non job related site, btw). The law field is being torn apart by outsourcing and many law jobs are either going to India or they are bringing in Indian lawyers. There are many lawyers now that are either unemployed or working in non law jobs. Scary, isn't it? I considered law school until I found all of this out.

GREED is very prominent in the EDUCATIONAL system of this nation. It's NOT about education BUT once again...need I SAY it? PROFIT!!!!! for those WHO run it. Add to the fact that SO MANY are getting educated on things THAT have NO VALUE now. How MANY MORE frigging LAWYERS do we NEED???? It's MANY lawyers that HELPED run this country into the ditch. I'm still a heavy advocate for VOCATIONAL education which we now dismiss as something worthless.

As usual Munster is on the mark. I too am a big believer in vocational training versus college. College is great for some people but others are wasting time to get worthless degrees. I mean really, is a degree in art history or womens studies a good idea unless you are going to teach it? The first two years of college are a waste where you take classes in math and English and all the other general education classes. Then my college had a class you had to take senior year where you basically tell everyone your problems in each class. Who wants to take a class where you sit around complaining about your life to people you'll never speak to again?

Thanks send it to some parents of late high schoolers too so they can rethink the whole mess and going into debt.

He is one of the lucky ones, making 18 an hour, at least its not 8 an hour as a law office clerk. There are very few law jobs.

Agree Mr. Munster at least REAL SKILLS are learned in VO-ED. I had all this schooling and no real schooling. Even the art classes, was paint what you feel rather then any real technique. All a waste of time. THe only class that was worthwhile was home ec, where we were taught to make a white sauce, and meatloaf. The college industrial complex is the biggest scam going and it goes through, the whole mix. Pay 100,000 bucks for this special piece of paper to even get in the field. I once asked could someone study on THEIR OWN for the bar exam? I think there is only 1 or 2 states they can. Most of the degrees are worthless, even the liberal arts, most of the time they are teaching you propaganda rather then to examine, research or think for yourself. I don't even want to get into the brainwashathon, that is the typical teachers education. With the internet and libraries, there is a lot people can learn on their own.

I agree that vocational education is an excellent background for a lot of professions and trades that provide excellent opportunities for well paying jobs and services that are vital.
What I don't agree with is that a college diploma is just a worthless piece of paper. Some professions require that "special piece of paper" to enter the field. I would not hire a lawyer or use a doctor who was self-taught. There are courses in college that are necessary and required for certain fields.
Getting a college education does not necessarily mean the student has to go $100,000 in debt either. If one chooses, the best way to go is to study at a junior or community college for the liberal arts requirements and then transfer to a state college for the major part of your education. College is what the student makes of it, whether they go to Yale or the local state college or university.
I don't recall ever being "brainwashed" in college, as a matter of fact, most of my major courses encouraged independent thinking by requiring courses studying theory and research methods. I don't consider my diploma's just a "piece of paper". I worked hard and gained a lot of knowledge that I would never have had the opportunity to learn had I not furthered my education.

Yes, they do exist! I live in a small town with one doctor and he actually has a medical degree! He has been our family doctor for years. Of course when I had health insurance and was referred to a specialist, the initial professionals I saw were nurse practitioners and P.A.s. Still, the people in these professions require college degrees - at least 6 years of college for these types of jobs.
