Nearly 6,000 Virginians Will Lose Unemployment Next Week
Mike Krebs from Waverly along with nearly 6,000 other Virginians received the devastating blow this week. Mike was laid off two years ago. Since then Mike has been looking for work, but with no success.
He has made ends meet through extended unemployment benefits, but now his safety net is disappearing and he doesn't know where to turn.
"It came as a complete surprise to me. I never expected this," said Krebs.
The devastating news arrived in Krebs' mailbox this week. The unemployed construction worker learned his extended unemployment benefits would dry up Saturday.
The Federal Government cut off funding to extended benefits once Virginia recorded three consecutive months of unemployment at 6.5% or lower. Krebs and 5,712 other Virginians like him won't have any income next week.

They won't even be "99ers". Virginia does not qualify for Tier 4, and now State EB has been shut off. "63ers" maybe?
