Finally after over a year, I have a face to face interview.
I'm pleased to announce that I actually have a face to face interview this Wednesday. It could not of come at a better time as I am now a 99er and get my last check this week.
This position is nothing like what Ive done in the past however my Mom worked there for 12 yrs and knows the hiring manager well.
Ill be taking a 50% pay cut from my previous position if hired but it beats 99er ville.
Ill keep you folks updated. If hired I would start on 5/16/11

Good luck! I actually found three jobs to apply for this morning! One is a temp job in Worcester, MA (about half hour away) and the other two were part-time clerical! Take what you can get!

Thanks Desp, at this point you definitely take what you can get. Half my family has worked at this place over the years.

If gas prices were lower, and car insurance cheaper in RI, I would apply anywhere that is hiring. I just did a mapquest search and got this:
I-90 E1 hour 32 mins / 73.36 miles
My whole pay would go into the gas tank.

It is a rare almost extinct animal that is a face to face interview but they are there, one just has to hunt through foliage, dangerous creatures and climb the highest peaks of mountains to find them but they are there. But one must be careful not to scare it away. In any event good luck to you and didn't you already get more than a 50% pay cut when you were on UE so that past salary is as historical as WWII, gone but not forgotten.

Yes, and my expenses right now are minimal after filing BK and moving back with Mom.

Re: Finally after over a year, I have a face to face interview.
Just found out from my Mom that the job is ALMOST a guarantee. Once I'm there and learn their system, they want me to transition to the IT department. This is the position I was originally going for.
Only crappy thing is Ill be considered an independent contractor on a 1099 and no bennies but beggars can't be choosers.
Put this on Obama.net Sebastian.

I am glad to here this. After all you have been through, you deserve something good to happen.
I am hoping my part time minimum wage job goes through soon.
A least I will still have free time.

as you may know. as a contractor you mus hold out your own taxes, also responsible for all withheld taxes local, state, federal and also insurance... and if you lost that job even after being there a year you cannot get unemployment anymore. Now you may check with the local unemployment and see how you can pay unemployment tax and then may be eligible for unemployment. ... But check with unemployment on if you can hold out and pay unemployment tax as an independent contractor..This is the new way the administration can get companies to hire and lower unemployment and some knowingly may use the indep. contractor just to hire people and get them off unemployment and even after working there a yr. guess what... No more unemployment. That is unless you check and the have a way for one to get unemployment.. Makes me wonder if one is self employed , they get unemployment if they pay in to unemployment. I don't know how it works. But for some companies that is a way cheap. They hire for low wages . then make those hired as a independent contractor and there goes benefits and payroll taxes and also they rape by paying low wages.Double screwed. Its a new day and age for the workers. Unless you belong to a union!!!Not necessarily your company since your mom works there. But is is an out for many employers to go the independent contractor...
