EVENT: The Briefcase Brigade will be Rallying in front of Sen. Gillibrand's office
A message from Yvonne in NY.
========================================
I received an email from Harry Waisbren, the young organizer of the Job Party yesterday. There seems to be an event, sponsored by MoveOn, called the Briefcase Brigade on April 27th. He's hosting one of them in NY, in front of Senator Gillibrand's office.
Please read the below, and click on the appropriate links. Pass along to anyone you know who is in this age bracket or publicize if you'd like. Apparently, the idea to stage an event with "millenials" is the following:
"There is a youth jobs crisis that no one is talking about. Unemployment for Americans under 30 is 16.7%, double the national average."
Yvonne --
It’s surreal to be a young American in this day and age. We grew up at the pinnacle of American prominence, but are now watching in slow motion as the American Dream dies before our eyes.
Fortunately, because of how we grew up, we aren’t going to take this lying down!
Enter the Briefcase Brigades and their April 27 national day of action, putting youth unemployment on the political agenda.
This effort entails young people showing up at congressional offices, briefcase and resume in hand, dressed up for a job interview.
We’ll show congress that we’re ready to work, but the jobs just aren’t there, and ask what they plan to do about it!
Click here to join or start a Briefcase Brigade by you.
In New York? The Job Party will be rallying in front of Sen. Gillibrand's office! Sign up and get ready for some fun.
Madison was just the beginning, and young people across the country have long been waiting for the right opportunity to really make their voices heard.
As Van Jones says, millenials deserve better than what society is currently providing us.
Like our parents and grandparents, we deserve a chance to live the American Dream, and on April 27 we’re going to let congress know it!
Make sure Washington hears us. Start or join a Briefcase Brigade today.
Join us in New York if you can, and let's loudly demand Jobs not Cuts!
Onward,

BOUT TIME!! This important fact has been swept along 'under the radar'. I have 3 children in this age group who have each spent 6 - 12 months unemp SINCE their college degrees! They all have jobs now, thank God! The point being if our nation/society has no opportunities for those with credentials what is to become of those with lesser abilities to even find a career ladder?
We All Need To REQUIRE MORE from our gov't!!

I agree suri!! Hopefully this will catch on in other states as well. We are slowly getting through to congress by doing what we are doing, but I feel rallies and protests are the best way to get the point across and are necessary and draw more attention to the issue...
Good luck NY!
