Folks,

Subject: 99er dealing with cancer, needs some donations to help pay his meds & things
A male 99er friend in Kingman, AZ (46 years old), whom I befriended on Facebook more than a year ago, was recently diagnosed with B-cell Lymphoma. He needs some help paying his anti-nausea meds, and who knows what else.
I know so many of us are broke. But if anyone can afford to donate $5 to this 99er, to pay for his anti-nausea meds, it would be a huge help. I'm sure he'll be very grateful; I know when I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in Sept. 2009, a great many of my Facebook friends helped me pay off my hospital deductible with $10 donations. Being a 99er makes fighting a deadly illness all the more worrisome. And men generally don't like reaching out for help, that's why I'm sending this message out on his behalf.
If you have a PayPal account, you can make a donation using his email address: sdcaz@msn.com Just make sure you click on the tab that says "Personal" then click the button that says "gift". This way, he will get the full amount without a processing fee.
Thank you,
Yvonne

$20.00 on its way. If he can use Walmart Gift Cards let me know and I will send them. If I am going to lose my house, I rather get rid of what I do have to a more than worthy cause.
He is in my prayers and so are you Carol. Dazed

Re: 99er WITH CANCER NEEDS HELP
Dear Dazed & Confused,
Here is a good article about how to save your home from foreclosure.
And as a last resort if you have enough equity in your home you could try to sell it and get some money to put down on a cheaper home with smaller payments.
You may also want to consider renting some rooms out for income to help pay the house payments.

Carol,
I won't be losing my home anytime soon. I have no mortgage, my issue is the tremendous expense associated with caring for my mother who died of cancer. I have a wonderful daughter who will graduate with a Chemical Engineering degree this June and she has told me, actually insisted she help with these costs. Not something I would want her to be doing when just starting off in life, but in these difficult times I might just let her lend me a hand. Thank you, I do appreciate you thinking of me.

A male 99er friend in Kingman, AZ (46 years old), whom I befriended on Facebook more than a year ago, was recently diagnosed with B-cell Lymphoma. Although he may have gotten a few extra weeks of UI benefits added on (due to his having worked in Colorado, where unemployment inched up again - Kelly is familiar with this) he needs some help paying his anti-nausea meds, and who knows what else.
He just had his first chemo session a few days ago. He's got little close family members left (his adoptive mom & dad were older and passed away; an elderly uncle may live nearby). He's single. Taking care of his late mother's dog, on top of everything else.
A few years ago his health insurance company sent him a $40,000 bill for back surgery, because it was performed in Colorado, although his surgeon's office was in Arizona, something they were originally going to cover. He wound up having to declare bankruptcy. (I don't know how much of this he wants made known but it certainly added to his trials and tribulations.)
Donalee suggested I post a notice on Nicole Sandler's www.helpthe99ers.com website. I have no idea if that will bring any results, and how quickly.
I know so many of us are broke. But if anyone can afford to donate $5 to this 99er, to pay for his anti-nausea meds, it would be a huge help. Re: 99er WITH CANCER NEEDS HELP
Dazed & Confused,
It is terrible to have a big hospital bill burden to carry on your shoulders.
Recently I had a friend ask me if I knew any places that would help pay hospital bills as his wife has cancer.
And they are afraid of losing their home through the high cost of medical treatment.
And I found an excellent site that does offer to pay their bills and I sent it to him. He was happy to get it.
Now I did a Google search & tried to find it for you and can't seem to find it anywhere.
I get tons of emails and it must have got deleted by mistake.
Here is a good article though on how to pay expensive medical bills.

Re: 99er WITH CANCER NEEDS HELP
I am so sorry to hear this
I am sure he may of already heard about this, but he could try to contact the pharma company that produces the meds. Some of them give them for free if you meet the criteria.
Sending prayers

Re: 99er WITH CANCER NEEDS HELP
Besides PayPal, is there any way I could send a check? Let me know if there is an address I could send it to and who I should make it out to if not him directly.
I could also put his name in the memo field.
I am running in the Green Bay Half Marathon with Team in Training, which does fundraising for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society....I will have to put his name on the back of my racing shirt as well.
The race is May 15.
Thanks!

Re: 99er WITH CANCER NEEDS HELP
Carol,
What a wonderful thing you guys are doing for this man. Having to go through this on top of the despair of being a 99er is just unthinkable!
My sis in law is a 99er and was diagnosed with colon cancer last year. After 12 rounds of chemo, she is now cancer free. We held a fund raiser for her and it was a complete success. Its amazing how many people care and want to help when something like this happens.
God bless and ongoing prayers
