589 the real story. **UPDATED 3/7/11**

This is another reason why we need to be contacting those not yet on board with the bill. Its not going to happen without a huge out cry from folks.

There is a list of contacts available here, as well as sample letters to use to advocate in the H.R 589 forum.

Lets use these resources and FIGHT.

I hear you Jim, but sometimes it is better to let go, you know hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

It has been a year since I have received my last check from unemployment, and at some point I got to take that for what is is, my last check.

This does not mean I won't do my part to help, I will just do it as though it is being done in vain, more like a habit.

I think its DOA! I keep asking for someone to show me something GOOD and positive! That would justify the "let's contact, fax,call, e-mail... da dada da da!
If the so called co sponsors do nothing then what good are the redundant contacts doing!

I am broke like Nuttin2lose and others and very desperate also ! But to keep sending us through the emotional ringer without supporting positive facts is nutts!

Why not wait till the bill actually has some movement on it, and not speculate its not going to happen.

Its only Tuesday of the 1st week they are back. Even those who have sponsored have said to contact those not on board yet.

Lose all hope if you want to, but please don't spew it all over this thread. Some do have hope, and hope sometimes is all one has.

I guess I can rekindle my hope! After all I saw a thread saying do you think 589 will pass in 2011! So yes we do have the whole year! Hope is the key!

I know most of us have been calling e-mailing faxing and tweeting..The politicians for longer than I'd like to remember..But what else is there besides H.R.589???If they cant get us 14 weeks..What will they ever get us??Did you ever think any of the U.E bills would pass when they were in there early stages???The bills that took forever to pass because the politicians seemed to go on a vaca every time a bill was close to coming to a vote..Also how many times did some one filibuster block ETC a bill..They were not exactly exuding confidence from many people either..Plus any time a Bill for unemployment was at this point..I really do not remember hearing much news about them..Let alone good news..They will always pump out the bad news for pretty much everything..Not to many feel good stories on my local news..I am not saying that any one should be exuding confidence that this bill will pass..We have all had our hopes crushed before..Surely we remember getting our teeth kicked in with Stenbows bill...But I feel that at least something/some one is trying to do something for 99ers..The more that we are brought to the light and the more U.E bills that they try to get us(even if shot down).The more publicity the 99ers will get from this and the better off the 99ers are..Having H.R.589 is better than no one doing nothing..Im tired of all these games to but we have got to try..It is like banging your head against the wall but we must be heard and have to keep trying as long as some one will draft the bills for us....So as long as e-mailing calling faxing and tweeting is the best we can do..Keep on doing it..Until some one can think of some thing better like maybe get the unemployed,,employed,,99ers,,public&private unions,lower&middle class to unite and stand up for a common goal..Since the government is screwing us all and anything the government does effects us all..

So again keep bugging your reps ever day until its passed or officially dead

This bill now as 70 co-sponsors and it does mean a lot. Look at some of the names on the sponsor list. Barney Frank and McDermott are two very seasoned legislators with loud political voices in the House. This is just two - take a look and look at the history of their legislation. Maybe you will better.

So if we get enough co sponsors then we will not need any repubs.. That would be great!

Just called the house ways and means committee. Left a message with "Kristin"..she said she will get this message to the Chairman. HE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN GET IT OUT OF COMMITTEE. HE IS DAVID CAMP.

btw...she knew what a "99er" was. Good going.

Also..I hope everyone wrote their stories and sent them via email to the house ways and means committee. This was a very important step to take. So, that they see we are "real" and in dire need of help.

Listen..for those who are giving up hope. Florida is coming alive! Gov. Scott is planning on cutting 8000 state jobs, next Tuesday and perks for teachers.
So far, there are going to be rallies in Tallahassee and Orlando next week!

So if there is this kind of response from the state I call "Radiated by the sun"...imagine, what other states in the North can do!
