Shutdown averted Deal will cut $37.8 billion from federal budget
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/09/us/politics/09fiscal.html?_r=2&hp“This is indefensible, and everyone should be outraged,” Mr. Reid said on the Senate floor. “The Republican House leadership have only a couple of hours to look in the mirror, snap out of it and realize how truly shameful they have been.” All morning and into the afternoon, the two sides offered their different versions of what was happening — but the picture became no clearer.

Won't effect me at all. Shut ER DOWN is the teaparty slogan. When you ask them what they mean they say they are not serious it just a sign. There are desperate and they want to shut it down to make Obama look bad. It will backfire just like Walker and WI union busting

"I'd like to inform my colleagues that additional legislative business and votes are possible today," Cantor said. "I would expect members to have at least one hour's notice prior to any recorded votes. Due to ongoing negotiations, it is critical for the House to remain in legislative session."
Cantor also reiterated that if appropriations lapse at the end of Friday, "I fully expect the House to meet tomorrow."

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Let's hope children aren't watching C-SPAN these days.
Lawmakers are behaving in ways that would earn them a time-out if they were in kindergarten.

The sad part is Most Americans have NOOOO idea the Government is about to shut down and exactly what that means to the average citizen. American have become so Naive to the things that happen in Washington DC. Only when it directly effects them do they become aware. Usually when its too late.

Washington (CNN) -- Budget negotiators are working on a proposal to keep the federal government open for another three days while Democratic and Republican leaders try to put together a broader deal this weekend, a senior Democratic source told CNN late Friday.

You're right, mostly they don't. I was talking to a member of my family last week who said "I don't really like either, but I think the republicans are more on the side of the working class, right?"

Democrats and republicans are both distractions.
Distractions for what, you ask? I do not know.
War in Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan?
Unrest in Egypt or Syria?
Or perhaps closer to home.
The price of oil topped $113/barrel today.
If you still have a 401K, watch the market next week...stick with rare minerals: gold, silver, platinum; and those stocks supporting supply/demand of such. Also safe is commodities. Lose any conventional stock/bonds.
I wish all my friends on unemployed friends (1 an 2) the best.
Blessings to you all!!!

No 401(k) or savings left here!
We are heading into the Great Depression Part 3 (although I don't believe the one that started in 2007-08 ever ended).

Re: Shutdown averted Deal will cut $37.8 billion from federal budget
I didn't think they had released what the cuts are yet. As of last night, I thought they had just set a dollar amount and would deal with that next week in Congress. It it isn't a done deal yet, it is only a Continuing Resolution until the budget can be finalized.
I do agree that making the case that 800,000 would be temporarily out of work for a short time, knowing they had a nice paying, secure job was a pretty lame excuse on their part and a slap in the face to the millions of unemployed and 99ers in the country.
The media had a lot to do with publicizing this to raise sympathy for these employees. I wish they would be as sympathetic to the real unemployment crisis - those of us who don't have a job to go back to and the 99ers who have been without benefits, some for over a year now.
