GOP Leaders to Rep. Lee on HR 589 - "Show me the money!"
The problems with moving forward H.R. 589 are twofold; the Democrat’s insistence on using “emergency funds” and the Republican’s demand for budget cuts elsewhere. Neither problem is insurmountable, but one side will have to do the other’s bidding for this legislation to stand a chance of passage. Compromise is possible, but with a Tea Party minority demanding $61billlion in budget cuts, this will be a very difficult fight.
It’s important that those who want this legislation passed contact both the Republican and Democratic leadership. Both sides need to again be made aware that millions are suffering and compromise is needed now.

Wasn't there a post that said Lee compromised and said she found ways to present to the repubs. on a plan that was offset from spending and her party had agreed to?

I remember that too. It was end of February or beginning of March. Can't find it.
Odd, that they don't ask where the money should be cut off for their wars.

Let's think real, Let's think truth, let's think accurate.....
It is "SHOW ME THE MONEY AND THE VOTES"
All both sides want is to figure out if helping 99'ers will help or hurt re-elections.
AND all both sides want is to figure out if helping 99'ers will help or hurt the other side re-elections.
It's all politics and for the mere fact that the GOP took over the house shows that people will just vote for the other guy if they are not livin' large.
AND I haven't heard anything from "make an announcement just before elections Stabenow"
Where is she, what has she done for us lately?
They set the limit at 99 weeks, just an old marketing ploy like $999.99.
One more penny and it's $1,000.00

Oh so true, I never feel I am being overcharged when I pay 4.99 for cereal, but I'll start a campaign if it goes to $5.00.
I don't think with the unemployment in this country being where it is, the lack of anything credible in the Job Creation department that a limitation on weeks is necessary until that rate drops to 5-6%. It's only being done to hide the real problem, because once the number of people sign up for benefits beyone 99 weeks, we have to be counted again. See if the 8.9% holds then.

I heard it too. I remember reading an article that said how it could be paid for, but cant for the life of me remember where it said the funds would come from. It was an article that came out a few days after the announcement about HR 589 in Feb.

She knows where the money is coming from to pay for it. She is just going into this as emergency spending to use "paid for" as a compromise. This is speculation and I hope I am right.
