Unemployed people "express much dissatisfaction and unhappiness with their lives," and are particularly unhappy while looking for a job. Not surprisingly, this unhappiness only increases the longer the search is unsuccessful. And as anyone who's ever been without a job can attest, the only activity that increases over the course of joblessness is sleep."Even more precisely," the authors archly note, "sleep in the morning hours tends to rise."

I'll tell you whats been happening to me. Depression. Big time depression. I wake up feeling like a loser, I go about my day feeling like a loser and I go to sleep feeling like a loser. I've tried not to feel like this, I try to tell myself, there are others in your shoes but it help. I've sent resume after resume, I've gotten interviews but they end up dead in the water. I'm not what they want apparently. They always tell me that they have more applicants which means we're going on to the next person. I'm at my wits end. I don't care about H.R. 589 I want a weekly paycheck I want to feel good about myself. I'm tired of being judged and judging myself.

My sleep patterns are way off. Sometimes I can't sleep at all worrying about everything, and then some days I don't want to get out of bed. There is nothing to look forward too. I hate feeling depressed all the time, I was always an upbeat person. It seems like the longer I am unemployed, the worse it gets.

What is really a blow to your self-esteem is the rejection letters and calls after an interview for a job. Most of the time, you don't even get feedback from the applications and resumes you send out. They are tossed away in the garbage, like we are.

It feels like the walls are literally closing in on me. Everything just looks dark and dreary all of the time. I feel like me and my family will never get our lives back...everything is on hold. It honestly feels like the end of the world. I cant even bring my kids to the park because my car eats too much gas and i cant afford it. We already lost everything and are about to lose the only car we have left. I feel like I am living in another world. My oldest child is in high school and I am petrified that we wont be able to afford to send her to college or buy her first car. I have never in my life felt so hopeless and useless.

I feel like I have a little bit of everything you all have. I had anxiety prob.s even before this all happened so I have been taking Xanax for years. NO I'm not a drugggy like all the people think unemployed people are. I am bi-polar. Now I have no insurance and cannot afford to pay out of pocket to see doc. or pay for perscriptions.

I know how ya feel too Emily Rose, I have lost pretty much everything I have. I have no family that even cares to talk to me, all of my friends except for one has bailed. I live with her. She too is now growing tired of me not having any money to pay for anything. I udnerstand it's hard on her. I will prob. be homeless before long. I lost my car 8 months. ago. I had a brand new Toyota FJ Cruiser and now it's re-poed. The only help I get is $200 a month on my EBT card.

I certainly hope both the House & Senate along with our President pull their heads out of their butts & get us some help. God only seems to know we are trying and hanging by a thread. I have never been a religious person but find myself while laying awake at night talking to God. Asking for help. So far, It doesn't seem like even he is listening.

This all rings so true with me. Its a disgrace what happens to people who endure this type of stress.
