Hey Everyone,

Check out my latest blog post: "Unemployed nurses, while Tuberculosis spreads."

Interesting contrast between how we deal with problems today, and how we dealt with problems during the New Deal.

There is a very good example of this in my little corner of RI. My town is home to one of these hospitals that were built to isolate and treat TB patients during that period. When this disease was just about eradicated, it became a state hospital for the disabled, Alzheimers patients and mentally ill. I know quite a few people who are employed there, and unfortunately, the hospital is once again admitting TB patients, it is starting to turn back to its original use. Sad, and it doesn't say much about our society today.

I think most people, unfortunately, look at the uninsured, or poor people who are sick, and think, "Hey, that's their problem!"

Not only is this cruel, it also fails to take into account how it's everyone's problem if people can't afford to see a doctor, or they're afraid of racking up medical bills, and diseases go untreated and spread.

I agree....it doesn't say much about our society today (not much positive that is).
