Whether you're able to collect unemployment benefits or if you have exhausted your benefits and became known as a "99er," there are many agencies and services that can help you get by. As has been reported, there are approximately 40% of Americans who are receiving "food assistance," either through a monthly allotment or through the use of debit cards, which are issued by various states.

If you're low income or unemployed, you can apply to your appropriate state agency and apply for food assistance. Know by its program as "Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)." In some states, such as Michigan, the program is known either as SNAP or by its generic description as the "food assistance program." Every month, depending on how much you're alloted for, an amount of funds is deposited onto a debit-type card where you can use at a variety of approved grocery stores. If you want more information on this program, you can find out more about this program by checking out the following website:

http://www.fns.usda.gov/snap/

Apply for SNAP, Food Stamps, Food Assistance Program:

Remember, don't be ashamed to apply for benefits. It's estimated that 40% of Americans are receiving these type of benefits. Everyone needs help, even if it's only temporary.
