Re: 99ers on PBS
I think one of my biggest frustrations is not just at the lack of jobs, it is at those who are doing the hiring. No longer are they willing to train in an area that a potential employer may not be familiar. You can be experienced in 75% or even 85% of the qualifications needed, but the other requiremens are usually so far out, that it really eliminates the majority of 99ers. I can't imagine that they would expect half of the millions out of work to go back to school, to learn the few little things they might not be experienced in. I just looked at a simple cleaning job for a local hotel...they required experience!!! Come on, we all clean house...I don't know what these people expect. I also just looked at a secretarial position for a local high school...I was experienced at the multiple requirements they had, until I came to "Student information management applications – X2 experience expertise.Experience with DESE reporting and resources (Security Portal, Data Warehouse, DART Tool) preferred". Do I even waste my time in applying. So, even if more jobs open up, what are our chances that we will get hired anyway with the strict requirements that employees now have....It really makes me sick...and depressed. I actually saw an opening for cleaning public toilets...they wanted experienced...Kill me now, so I can stop feeling the way I do.

Re: 99ers on PBS
I see this all the time, and more frequent seeing this be added as well: Associates of Engineering or military experience REQUIRED. No longer is experience in the job or somewhat the same experience considered. They are requiring degrees (must go into debt to obtain position) or Military experience in that field.
