All of us that have been S_at upon are mad. But others, not at all. They have been told that all these people getting laid off just need to stop enjoying these unplanned unpaid vacations and get a job. We just need to make some boot straps (and some boots) and pull ourselves up. But don't miss a rent/mortgage payment, don't miss a car payment, don't miss a utility payment, don't miss an insurance payment, don't miss a tuition payment, don't miss a credit card payment, don't get sick, and pay those taxes --- or else!!

A Unilever ice cream factory in Hagerstown, MD was closed this week. The workers were shocked. How could they be laid off after 20-30 years of dedication. Sure, lots of people are losing their jobs. But them? Them? Until enough people lose their jobs, there won't be enough people that care. Once enough people care, we can force change.

You've hit the nail on the head invisible, some of us have been at this for over 4 years (I actually can't believe it myself sometimes). But if "it doesn't happen to me" it's not really a problem is the mentality of the last 4 years and will be until enough people really get angry and start screaming. We've been doing our part here on this forum, as we all know, much to our exhaustion both mentally, physically and financially to no avail. Problem is, we are just one small faction of the unemployed who seem to be voiceless. We get some press and then they move on, once again hiding their heads in the sand and denying that the problem is really this big. It really is this big. Millions of people not being able to find sustainable, living wage income is a real problem which trickles down to EVERYONE'S way of life eventually. Costs escalate, homes foreclose, rents go unpaid, cars get repossessed, goods stop being purchased and then companies go out of business due to lack of sales and everyone is shocked. And, WE THE PEOPLE, pay the price for this. Not because of unemployment benefits, because taxes, utilities go unpaid and we need to absorb the costs through higher rates, our home values go down, costs of all goods go up and it goes on and on.

What I really still don't understand is how everyone, on every forum like ours isn't screaming mad, calling, emailing, texting, tweeting every chance they get. This isn't going to change unless we all make it change, forcing it to change. Untill we do that, the "it's not really a problem unless it's happening to me" attitude will prevail.
