Southern California job hunters get some hope from Amazon....

Well it's no secret that California it a tough place to find a job right now... I have not have any real prospects in over 6 months..but I did get a glimmer of hope and this is not a solicitation but more so just passing along info. to anybody in so. cal. looking for job that has run out of places to apply.

Amazon is putting in a HUGE (950,000-square foot) Distrubution Center in San Bernardino Ca. This will create hundreds of FULL TIME jobs & be the first round of more that a 1,000 promised jobs. These are not Glam jobs but supposed to be a Fun safe working enviornment. $12hr. with benefits. & leads will earn $14hr. with benefits & says a lot of overtime hrs. too. Benefits include health insurance & Amazon stock options.

To apply the web address is ......www.WorkatAmazonFulfillment.com. It's one of those ones that takes some time to create a profile....submit to a background check....& a assesment took about 1 hr. total but I have run out of all options. I used to be the Store Manager of a Pier 1 Imports & for Best Buy too...with over 16 years as a manager & now can't get a thing...Not even a floor sweeping postion. It's like I no longer exhist. So I hope I will be one of the many that get a full time job out of this...but if not me, hopefully this will help somebody esle in my shoes as well. Thank you Steve! It is about time there was some good news on the jobs front in places like CA. Although it may not be the dream job, it sounds like they provide great benefits and a fun work environment. To me, sometimes these two qualities are more important than earning a big salary and being miserable!

Thanks Desperate...I need all the LUCK I can get. One of the good things although lower pay, it is FULL TIME WORK. That is what's hard to find anywhere right now.

I know someone who works at Amazon and she loves it. Her and her husband both work there, different shifts, and she can't say enough good things about a warehouse position that doesn't seem like a warehouse position. She has a lot of fun and looks forward to working.

Thanks...MK....so far NOTHING! I am keeping my fingers crossed. Glad to see life is gettting back on track for ya! I keep calling, faxing, fighting for all of us...seems to go un noticed but heck!!!! I keep on, keep'n on!

Well, me too ss. I am praying for you. I wish an Amazon would open here, at this point in NJ I wish anything would open, lol.

The Governor is announcing a plan end of month for NJ, so I am hoping.

Meanwhile, back to the emails, I have kind of given up on twitter as I had some pretty nasty issues happen about two months ago and I don't need it, and it surely doesn't help the cause.

Snday thank you for the kind words...it's very hard to get a job in Southern California as well. I had my phone interview yesterday and got an email today saying I made it through to the next phone interview? We shall see how it goes...I've got both my fingers, toes & legs crossed!

No Prob. Rosie...I have an actal Live Interview on the 17th...so I am holding my breath...it will mean good news. I hear that the live interviews with them can be long and tough. I just hope I have the mental capacity left in me after spending 4 years of hearing NO & gettting Beat up at interviews, my confidence is like my bank account.......0.

It may be zero now, but when you walk in there make it 100 for them. Be proud of the work you did when you worked. Make it seem like it was just yesterday. I know how you feel I've been unemployed myself for 3 years now and know that you are not alone in your struggle to find work. We are all here to cheer you on.
