BACK....again

After a LONG hiatus, I figured I'd pop in and see what going on. Things look GRIM out there on the help and politics front. I've come to realize plain and simple THEY don't care, never did. But I regress. It's been well over a year since I ran out of UI, I've survived. I've picked up a few freelance gigs here and there and well a as few under the table gigs too. Landed a retail job one day a week on top of all that. Still have some health issues but dealing. Not easy but surviving...making just enough to get from one month to the next month. Not enough to make it over the top yet in any fashion. I've got a few leads but NOBODY has any funds for real expansion and hiring yet. Well that's the soundbite version of it all. Angry, soldout, kicked to the curb but still here.

Good to hear from you, MM! Been wondering how you've been. Sounds like you're staying strong and doing what's needed to survive - good for you!

Thanks. It's a bummer...fast approaching the 4 year mark. It's tough doing all these odds and ends. Winter months are always the low spot as funds get dry and work is harder to come by. It picks up around now in the year but I just can't seem to find FULL weekly work for more than a few weeks here and a few weeks there. I would really hope for a full six month gig at full pay. That would be a godsend.

I just got back on here about a week ago after a super long time off the site (like you I guess). Actually I'm gonna call it a night tonight but I'll be around here and there. Still struggling here in Vegas. Can't believe it's been this long. Your right; things are no better for the long term unemployed than they were when we first discovered this website. And now the newly unemployed get less weeks. Ok, I'm going to sign off for now but good to see you on here again. What a country we live in. It's got to turn around some time!

MM, it's good to see your face. I am a 4 year "vetran" myself. It's ugly. I too picked up some babysitting, cleaning and a 2 day a week retail type job, which is now down to 4 hrs a week. I just can't let it get to me.

Help doesn't seem to be coming and I am almost tempted to spend my last dime and go to DC with whoever will come and scream until I can't scream anymore.

But we've all been together for so long, we can't give up hope now.
