Back on underemployed/unemployed line

Post by 503Depressed on Mon Mar 26, 2012 12:40 pm

Hello All,

Well, my long-term contract temp job ended and I'm back on the underemployed/unemployed line.

Unfortunately, this is all too common currently. I long for the days when we have power again against employers. When retirements opens tons of positions, creating a labor shortage.

I would not count on a large amount of people retiring soon. Many workers 401K money is much smaller and lucky to have a pension.

I don't ever see a labor shortage for a long time. Expect more of the same. I hope it lasted 20 weeks. Most of my contracts didn't last long enough to restart Unemployment Insurance.

Oh, I don't expect many older workers will be retiring, that is just the hype.

My job lasted 10 months, hopefully that is enough to get Unemployment Insurance. Am dealing with a bunch of BS and hoops that Oregon Employment is now requiring me to jump through. I get the feeling that they are making it more difficult to claim delibertly.

Remember to study the laws on the state's website. Those booklets are useless. Name of state.gov. I only have 10 weeks to claim. Most states just need 20 weeks. It is what the agency pulls is the problem.

Sorry to hear that 503. When will this nightmare end. I'm currently working but severely under employed. I'm actively seeking a better job to no avail.

I still have my part-time (80 hrs/mo) Caregiver position (SEIU), however that is hardly enough to keep the bills paid and repair the vehicle that I have to have for Caregiving.

i think some people want america but don't understand they are asking for socialism. oui me. america the free but we are underemployed by what measurements? the jobs that smart governments and people caught on to as we swung in our hammocks in the back yard, barbecue fired, and our hamburgers about to be grilled?

this world is made up of more than the USA. underemployed? is that next to the bra section?
