write a poem for your job???

Post by elvis44102 on Sat Feb 11, 2012 4:06 pm

I have been applying for 10-30 jobs a week for quite some time....
I have been getting a few very small contracts...VERY few...
but in all those applications i never was asked to write a poem....this struck me as odd and amusing so i thought Id post my effort to see if anybody would think it rates a follow-up...

It was the best of times...It was the worst of times....My experiance is bountiful....my desire and ability to learn knows no end....my latest contract is set to expire...and yet once again i will be a new hire..Ah!! such is the life of an IT tech!

of course the first line was stolen...

elvis44102,

Your effort is better than mine would be. I have never been very creative, especially with poetry.

Having said that, maybe I am just burned out on looking for work, because of all the ridiculous interviews I have had with ridiculous people, but my gut tells me that this is just the tip of the iceberg of the nonsense you will be continually subjected to, if you are successful enough to make it through to the interview process, and are "lucky" enough to get this job. Might be interesting, at the very least, to play along though.

But, what do I know? Smile

Best of luck!

I've had many interviews, individually and group interviews--some if not most proved to be a waste of time--theirs and mine. I hate they don't tell you what the pay, benefits, etc., are during the interviews and then give you the run around...

I like your poem!

Elvis, just in case your poem hits the charts I thought I'd donate a cover for it. Now we just need someone to add the musical score.

What do you think? Very Happy

I love it, and I think LRS is right, who knows what we will be subjected to in the future?
I have a feeling that although the media states that the economy is recovering "slowly", I think it may be even more slow due to this year being an election year and job creation is not a priority.
I am also reading that gas prices are set to go up to around $4.00-$4.50 a gallon by this summer...anyone else read about this as well?

DD, I just heard the President speak on the payroll tax cut and unemployment extensions. He used the price of gas, now and in the coming months, as examples why these programs must be extended.

Of course for those who have exhausted all their benefits, it really doesn't matter Crying or Very sad

We should all get together and write a book! study
