A new article has popped up on Huffington Post that highlights the point that Americans are earning more but spending less as they still remain skeptical of the U.S. economy. They should be. Until unemployment extensions are passed and Congress starts concentrating on job creation, our nation is simply going to get much worse:

When and IF I am ever re-employed, I know that I will be more fiscally conservative with my earnings. In my past life, I accumulated a lot of nice things. What good are they to me now? All I want is my life back and to enjoy precious time with my family and friends and not feel like a secluded leper anymore.

Tell me about it ... I had to sell off a lot of my valuables just to survive. I know that I'm so frustrated with the way the current powers that be, in Congress, that I'm not sure I would want anything to do with Congress.

That's just my personal feelings.

They're definitely not helping with job creation, they're not helping with passing unemployment benefits. Even if I found a job today, there is no way I could afford to get back and forth to work everyday because of the simple fact that I don't have any money for gas or to ride the bus.

That is the reason for additional benefits for the long term unemployed. Why doesn't Congress understand that? We don't grow money trees in our back yard. How were we supposed to keep our only means of transportation? We need, insurance, maintenance, registration fees and GAS money! How are we suppose to do that with no income for a year? Even if they do get around to addressing JOB creation, how are we supposed to get them when we have no way of getting there. They have backed us into a corner that is almost impossible to get out of.

That's the problem ... even if there were plenty of jobs available, without some source of income, affording transportation for the first 2-3 weeks for that job is going to be next to impossible. We need this unemployment bill unless Republicans have been planning on weeding out the poor, low income and undesirables.
