Does this two month temporary fix include any additional weeks for us?

No, although the Senate and Obama agreed on that deal, they will vote on it later this morning. The House will vote on it next week when the convene. Nothing is definite yet, except a real mess and huge battle in January and February. The Dems better not cave again!

Not a done deal yet. The Senate is voting today and the House on Monday. I agree, though, they did cave, which is going to make it much worse in February when this whole thing starts over again!

The only thing the 99ers are included in is their Merry Christmas wishes

I wouldn't go that far! It would be more like:

2nd Portly Gentleman: What may we put you down for, sir?
Scrooge: Nothing, sir.
1st Portly Gentleman: Ah, you wish to remain anonymous.
Scrooge: I wish to be left alone, sir! That is what I wish! I don't make myself merry at Christmas and I cannot afford to make idle people merry. I have been forced to support the establishments I have mentioned through taxation and God knows they cost more than they're worth. Those who are badly off must go there.
2nd Portly Gentleman: Many would rather die than go there.
Scrooge: If they'd rather die, then they had better do it and decrease the surplus population. Good night, gentlemen.
[walks away, then turns back]
Scrooge: Humbug!

I don't believe that either party has the 99ers in mind. In fact, the bill reduces the 99 weeks to 59. So the next generation of unemployed who exhaust all benefits will be 59ers.

No it doesn't reduce the number of weeks. It is another extension of EUC08 for two months. Wouldn't doubt if when (and if) it is brought up again in February that it will reduce the number of weeks, along with all the other foolish requirements that were attached to the House Bill passed last week.

Hopefully, with this in mind, the people who are still eligible for benefits will stand with the 99ers this time, too much is at stake. There is power in unity!

I wasn't referring to the temporary patch/extension, rather to the original bill. But thanks for clarifying my post for others. At least some people will be able to find a little relief through the holidays with this temporary extension. Sometimes I don't know which is worse; worrying about benefits ending, or the idea among so many that two years is way more than enough time to get back to work. There is no acknowledgement among the working that others have been wiped out by the tsunamically bad economy. It is a great divide.
