Question about a claim expiring Empty Question about a claim expiring

Post by gatto Sun Jun 26, 2011 3:28 pm

I went on line today to claim last week. It said I would get my money but it also said "Your claim expired on June 25, 2011. Contact the unemployment office to determine your eligibility for a new claim" I have three weeks left in Tier 2. Does anyone know what this means? I will try to call them tomorrow but I am freaking out. It has been a year since I made my initial claim and I am in the Tiers. The lady at the office said that I should not have to do anything more until I hit the EB leg of things.

hello and welcome to the forum, gatto.

You need to contact your state when your benefit year ends to re certify. In most cases you should be able to continue on and receive benefits. Definitely call tomorrow to be sure. Every ones circumstances are different.

Good luck!

Thanks! I love this site! It really helps to find out things from people who have been there. I figured it had to be something simple like that. However sitting on hold for an hour waiting for an answer is a drag! Oh well.....

Sick and Tired is right, it is just a technicality, your BYE ended. You just need to call, the reps will update your information, give you a new BYE, if necessary (this varies by state) and there will be no delays or gaps receiving your benefits. I know it is a pain to call and sit on hold for an hour or more, but this should be the only time you will have to do it while you are on the Federal Tiers.

Good luck!

Question about a claim expiring Empty Re: Question about a claim expiring

Post by unemployedinsc Wed Dec 07, 2011 3:57 pm

Hey All, I was here in 2009 & 2010, finally got a job...then DH got laid off in Jan 10, I hope someone can help with a ?? I have. DH was partially laid off in Nov, Dec & then worked one week in Jan, nothing in Feb. His BYE in was late Nov, now they have gone back & used 3rd, 4th, 1st & 2nd qtr to make what I gather is a new claim for him? Is this correct? He received 17 weeks at a lower amt than before but will this start him over if EUC is extended? TIA!
