Dozens Of Kmart, Sears Stores To Close
http://www.npr.org/2011/12/27/144309504/sears-holdings-to-close-up-to-120-kmart-sears-stores?ft=1&f=1001&sc=tw&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitterBetween 100 and 120 Sears and Kmart stores will be closed, the retailer said Tuesday, after terrible holiday sales during what is the most crucial time of the year for retailers.
Sears has yet to determine which stores will be closed, but there has been a clear shift in where the retailer will devote its resources.
The company is moving away from its practice of propping up "marginally performing" stores in hopes of improving their performance. Sears said it will now concentrate on cash-generating stores.
So glad things are getting better! (((sarcasm)))

Re: Dozens Of Kmart, Sears Stores To Close
It sure is hard to be positive about things. I guess the reality is some stores go through their cycle. But, Kmart and Sears it seems hard for me to grasp. We no longer have a Kmart (there were 2 here years ago). For me Kmart stands out as it was the ony discount department type store until around the late 70's. Nostalgia I guess.
I find it disturbing that it seems we will be left with fewer choices. I am sure Walmart is excited for any increased customer base they can get.

It's all about taking things for granted. We barbecued, sat back, and let ourselves be sold out... so now what are we going to do about it?
