For anyone who think this was a political move by President Obama, please watch this clip from 2002 on "The Last Word's Rewrite" segment last night.

Everything that anyone does is political. If I keep my money in Bank Of America instead of a credit union, it's a political move. In this case it means that I don't stand by my convictions.
He made a promise to get us out of Iraq and he is keeping that promise. This is a political move . It's also another promise from the campaign trail that he kept.

Re: Obama pulling out troops in Iraq
I think it goes without saying that any troops remaining in any country to help stabilize that country, should if nothing else, be given rights, not subject to the whims of the people. That would include immunity, which is not being granted. BRING THEM HOME. They should not have to face that in the name of nation building, which is what they would be there for, not stabilization. You can bet the powers that be would be screaming to leave the troops if they thought is was best. They are not. It is the Republicans who are. People who are not in harms way, won't be writing checks to the families of men who are killed, to children who won't see their parents again, who will hold up votes in Congress in the name of Deficit Reduction to those very families who have served. They have already done it.
Yes, these troops will come home and find it difficult to find jobs, like so many of us are. It's reality, it's sad and it's up to us to do someting about it. To argue leaving them there because of a jobs crisis is nonsense. Leaving them there without immunity, will our Congress vote to go in and get them, should there be unrest and they are captured or jailed and tried unjustly? No, they wouldn't vote for it, it would cost money. They need to start thinking about people and not money. If companies stay there to rebuild they can hire their own security people. It's clear they really don't want us there, so why stay?
We have had posts from members who were there and they think it's time to come home, past time in fact.
Now, it's true that jobs will be lost due to this, those opposing the troops coming home are voicing their opinions on this loud and clear, it will seriously hurt employment in their districts. Again, valuing money over human life. Not listening to the commanders, their views and the views of the service men and women who are in fact, on the ground and may be able to give us all a clearer picture of the way things really are.

Who knows I would hope the Dems wouldn't go back, but with Iran and Syria maybe. I just know that this is far from over.

Re: Obama pulling out troops in Iraq
I am sure, to an extent you are correct. We have no idea how this will go. But I think and it is just my opinion, if people do not want us there, and those that do won't agree to our terms, then these men and women should come home. I know it won't be easy for them finding work here, but they don't risk being imprisoned on trumped up charges or tortured or being blown up by the enemy, which no one seems to know who that really is anymore.
