What Needs to Be Occupied: Cantor’s Schedule for the House

Post by Guest on Thu Oct 20, 2011 8:15 am

Did you say 13 work days until Thanksgiving… Journalist Jamie Dupree just reminded me, by way of tweet, how questionable the Eric Cantor conceived “work schedule” of the U.S. House Representatives is. Yes, members do work hard in their district during weeks off. Some members that is. That members work hard in their districts during weeks away from Washington is strictly a case by case proposition. Some members do $1M worth of work (Fattah, Cleaver…), others $20K (Walsh, Ellmers…). Funny that some members claim
that those on welfare ($4 a day…) should work for it, volunteer or produce something to receive aid. One has to ask: What are some House members producing for $476 a day and $174,000 per year.
