On October 13th, U.S. Senators John McCain (R-AZ), Rand Paul (R-KY) and Rob Portman (R-OH), joined by other Republican senators, introduced a Republican alternative jobs bill, The Jobs Through Growth Act.

The American 99ers Union provides six of the “highlights” contained within this proposed legislation, along with accompanying questions and comments from the American 99ers Union. We ask that you draw your own conclusions as to the merits of The Jobs Through Growth Act and if in fact its passage would do anything to create jobs now.

He we go again. Both sides have their version of a "jobs bill", and neither side will budge. Its my way or the highway. They're not going to be happy until they completely destroy this country! All of them have got to go!

I know what Robert Reich would say. This is no plan, favors the rich 100%. Would not guarantee one new job. This is more of the same.

In my opinion, the Republicans just blew their last chance. Whatever happens, they need to be held fully accountable. Good thing McCain never became President. He should retire in disgrace for even coming up with something like this.

Reading the complete description this morning, only the Authority to fast track trade agreements will help to create jobs or prevent further job loss. This only a renewal, which I don't understand. This is still lacking, not enough information.

Just my opinion, but any bill proposed by Senator Rand Paul is not in the best interest of the people. What a Face

Just my opinion too, any bill opposed by Rand Paul is a GREAT bill. Just do the opposite of what this curly-topped, perm-job twirp does, and America will return to greatness and prosperity in no time!

Why is it that no one can see these bills and this blatant pandering to the wealthy and the corporate kings. It's starting to get to me more than I can explain. But I don't know what gets me more, them introducing these "see through" bills or the unemployed and the 99ers not getting annoyed when they see through them, enough to get 5000 signatures on the petition, the letter or the occupy areas. It should be a no brainer.

Just take a look at what they voted on last Friday, just for an example of how committed they are to creating jobs. It's a disgrace.

Problem is jmaiframe, one bill, actually will create immediate jobs, one won't create any.

Call me a male Pollyanna but I am hoping between the protest and the jobs bills things start moving in the right direction. The fact that jobs are being just talked about is a step forward compared to the silence we have had the last 3 years or so on jobs.

Wausauguy,

Just my opinion, but perhaps the government is FINALLY admitting to itself that the civil unrest in this country is systemic, and not just a bunch of isolated incidents. Action needs to be taken NOW, because time is running out.

Well wausauguy, I have been accused of the "pollyanna" syndrome since I originally joined the original site. Nothing wrong with it, and I have to agree with both you and jmainframe, this is what is needed, as long as it doesn't get ugly, to get them to listen. They are nervous, and with today's really lovely news from Europe, it could get ugly, so hopefully they listen, because we cannot afford another downgrade, and they have been told, get it together, so here is hoping they do. Don't stay silent, join the occupyfromhome rally. Email, tweet and fax, phone if you can. We want a real jobs bill and benefits until they can resolve the unemployment issue. 3 years is too long to hope it will go away or that we will go away. Not going to happen!!! Get loud and get active. The Republican Plan To Put Americans Back To Work 34243
