That pretty much sums it up. Yet the 99% were/are continuously ignored. Not any more!

Ratio of Pay - CEO : Avg. Worker Empty Re: Ratio of Pay - CEO : Avg. Worker

Post by Guest Wed Oct 12, 2011 11:38 pm

Actually I don't see the relevance and meaning to this ratio. Overall are we suggesting that a bright leader like Steve Jobs or Bill Gates be 1:1?

Let's target the problem, not the easy target. Fire the "goofballs" and fall further behind. Okay? No it's not. These leaders are individuals that create business and employment.

The problem is "made in America - or not". It's also the rotten educational U.S. system versus the much better education in India and other competitive countries. Don't believe me, just keep dreaming. Set your sights on the old hunting camp, killing a deer, overtime, "take it for granted", "this is America", "all the years for nothing", "we're the biggest nation", "we worked for so long", "we deserve", and other such crap.

There's no looking back. Bring it on home today in every way or continue to give it all away by the minute.

Sorry.

475:1, someone lied to us. How many years did they blame this on the Unions. Now, they have the fight the bottom 99% and were not taking it anymore.

Either take a pay cut now or we will seize your assets. Even Bill Gates is not excused. Bill is very guilty of many things. You need to spread your income among your lower temporary worker more. The ones you purposely screwed.

No, it shouldn't be 1:1 but it also shouldn't be 475:1.

It's impossible to justify that kind of pay deficit.

There is no possible your CEO could be worth that much money.

It's robbery, especially considering most of these guys get paid bonuses regardless of how well the company performs. If they get fired they get even more.

Once you get to that level it really is money for nothing.

And to think they blame the unions for making too much money.

stillnutty, I only know of one post that was deleted yesterday by another administrator (without my input at all) for it's derogatory and attacking content - I have not deleted any posts here. The member attacked my post, informing me that since I was an administrator, that explained why my education was rotten and why I have my head up my backside.

Is this the post you reference?

BTW, you mentioned that you aren't following what I've said. Would you please be more specific and I'd be glad to clarify?

Thanks.

Hi nutty. Hope I can help clarify things here. X's opinion that he posted is pretty clear to me and for the most part, I agree with him. Using the two billionaires he mentions, would we be here chatting if it weren't for their innovation and technology? Over the past 30 years, did everyone bother to keep up with the tech revolution that has affected every aspect of our lives from the way we do our banking to life-saving surgical procedures. Many people have, I was fortunate enough to be employed during these years and kept up with these changes with employer paid and on the job training. I know people my age who don't even know how to turn on a computer, let alone use one. For whatever reason, they never had to in jobs they have (or had). I think we became too complacent with our comfortable lives, thinking it would last forever and never bothered to keep up with what was going on. I know that I have probably missed out on a lot during the past three and a half years of unemployment. My 9 year old granddaughter got an I(something) a couple weeks ago for her birthday that does everything for her except her homework. She was trying to show me how to use it last weekend and I was completely lost, seriously. Stuff like this gives the corporations excuses as to why they don't hire - "mismatched skills", and I hate that phrase!

The ratio of CEO to Average Worker pay is way out of proportion in this country today. Some deserve it, many don't - that's my opinion. Also, just last week I read an article about workers in China at an Apple factory having to sign a "No Suicide" contract due to the horrible working conditions provided. The subject of outsourcing is a whole other issue to be discussed in another topic and thread.

As far as deleted posts, sometimes when members do not agree with the opinion of another, they are called "trolls" and subject to unnecessary bashing. I can't tolerate that. As long as it isn't abusive or offensive, everyone has a right to express their opinion without the fear of being called names. IMO, this is exactly the same thing that some politicians and main stream media are doing to the Occupy Movement. They don't agree, so they lash out with vicious statements that are so ridiculous, some are actually funny.

We don't all have to agree, it would be a very boring world if we did. However, before one resorts to name-calling, they should think twice and respect others. We are all at our breaking points, angry, depressed, anxious and feel pretty hopeless. How do people know that when they start trashing others because of their opinions, they aren't pushing them over the edge? I wish some people would think of that before posting. If someone doesn't agree with or understand the post, ASK, and then respond with their opinion, minus the name-calling, just as you did here.

The post in question was deleted, so was the Admin's response because it would have made no sense without the original post.

Now, can we all work together to dig ourselves out of the hole we are in now? Nothing good can happen for us unless we are united in our efforts, even in spite of our personal differences.

If 1:1 is not good enough for them, what is? 25:1? 50:1? Do you guys really think these so-called "innovators" have worked 25-50 times harder in their life times than the average American? Hell, they probably haven't even worked 10 times harder, and for some jobs, they've probably worked less hard and under less stress, but for more pay.

As for Steve Jobs, personally I would resist the temptation to put him on a pedestal. I've always thought he was a massive asshole, and his death is not going to suddenly change my opinion.

My name is John Wold = Sekhmet
My wife's name is Terry Wold = Sad American

You are telling us that only one of us can be on your site?
I was unemployed for 2 1/2 years and I am now underemployed.
I am not allowed on your site? I am not worthy?

My wife won't let me post very often because I say it like it is and would offend your sensibilities.

I totally agree with you but I think you give them too much credit. Most of these people do not innovate in anyway. Gates and jobs fueled a revolution, maybe they were just in the right place at the right time, and changed the way we look at the world.

Most of these people that make 475 times the amount their employees do just sit in a board room make a decision that makes no difference in the end and they take their paycheck and go home. It makes no difference if they are right or wrong because they still get their bonuses anyway.

These are people are like Herman Cain they just sit in a board room and collect a paycheck. Good decisions? Have you ever had Godfather's pizza? That was NOT a good decision.

If you take the two particular people we talked about out NONE of these people are worth what they get paid.

Home depot's previous CEO ran the company into the ground and destroyed it's reputation, he made it into a walmart. He got fired and his severance pay was $211 million.

And people don't laugh at this?

Actually, I'm not giving them very much credit at all, hence "so-called innovators." There's nothing particularly special about them, and while it's obvious they couldn't have done near what they accomplished by themselves (you do need someone to help you write that software, after all), people still tend to give them most if not all of the credit.

I do agree 100% that none of these guys are worth near what they are paid. Human beings paid deity prices.
