Working a temp contract job and just got notified that I have another extension. Anyone have the same? I am well beyand the 99re rule; but under the displace worker (TAA) category. Thought all was exhausted; sttll on tier 4 as far as I know. Is this crazy, or what?

Kathleen,

These days most people are hired on a contract basis. The initial contract period can be a month, three months, six months. But the contract is usually open to extension upon extension.

Please count yourself as one of the lucky ones. No you are not a 99er and from the information you have provided you are classified as working and very fortunate.

Why are you asking if this is crazy and if you can still collect?

I am just tired X and looking forward to retirement and peace of mind, not more UI or contract extensions. Yes, I am working with the same group that laid me off in 2009; it’s good to be back with the old gang, but very hard knowing I am in reality on the outside.
I am thankful for all the opportunities I’ve been able to take advantage of; but along the way I lost hope and excitement for life in general. I think it’s all crazy. I was able to learn how to fish, but there are levies and walls up and down the river and water ways. Damned fat cats need to create real jobs and give us back our hopes and dreams.

Yeah, I know Kathleen. I understand. I'm certainly not "groovin" these days myself. I do contract work and it's been a drag for the last several years.

Hang in there. Hopefully we'll all get to better places in our life soon.
