They want to "fix" it so that their Wall Street buddies can get their greedy paws on it and away from us. That's the scheme.

Could you even imagine the mayhem had Bush been able to privatize it when he wanted to? If people want to see riots, oh, I think by now there would be no mean streets left.

Re: Just Thought You Would Like to Know
The real point here was to calm fears that it's not solvent and it's deficit neutral, which just throws cold water on Perry's argument. Paul Ryan, well, he's Eddie Munster all grown up, so I don't take him seriously. Does NOT add to the deficit and does NOT run out of money within the next 10 years, really doesn't run out of money at all just gets tighter.
Point: if we all get jobs, we will be contributing again
Point: if we stop borrowing from it to finance off the books wars it would have more money
Point: If you keep repeating the lie of Social Security is going broke, some people will start believing it.
Why do they not think we figured this out.

Agreed, MK! I was just muttering out loud. Makes me nuts too when people say it's broke.
Remember when Bush went on his privatize SS tour in the wake of the 2004 "election", and the more he talked about it, the less popular it got in the polls?
