What Not to Say
Great article, please read.
What Not to Say to Someone Who Is Unemployed
http://www.cnbc.com/id/41625574/
"And, while most people who are unemployed appreciate a job lead — don’t offer them a job lead unless you know what you’re talking about."
That is the best advice. Any other comments are not needed, many of them are out right hurtful.

Re: What Not to Say
I totally agree with this post except for "it's tough out there", that gives me some indication that they understand what is going on and doesn't really bother me.
The false job leads are maddening.
A good example is what my close friend has said to me several time. She is an MRI tech and they have been hiring assistants over the last year. It takes no real qualifications. So she said just go to the website and apply. I go to the website and the job isn't posted. She says "call this person". I called that person and she has no idea what I am talking about.
Then my friend doesn't understand what happened. I tell her that they are hiring someone just not me. If she can get me the job then get me the job or at least an interview don't tell me to "apply online".

Re: What Not to Say
There could be many reasons. It could be everyone knows somebody. If the person is that a good of friend, then take the resume to the hiring manager and tell them that person would be great for it. Myself and many others don't have the connections like others have. They say they go by online applications, but do they? In many cases NO.
That is one reason I hate the internet and job boards like Monster.com. When you directly applied in the old days you sometimes got to talk to hiring manager right away even with just a resume. There is no human contact. Everyone is so nasty these days. The Personnel Department was right by the door. Human Resource Managers are all company and everybody attitude stinks Let the Employed go find a job in this market, why some places exclude the unemployed is madness.
I agree some of those statements are not that bad. A person is being over sensitive. Those ones that tell you "Just get any job," don't really have a clue. If they would have a real job lead and help you follow up. Then that is helping, other than that please be queit.

Re: What Not to Say
The company that I last worked for doesn't even have in house human resources managers anymore. the home office now selects which applications that each locations can interview.
