Blue Dog Dems (Screwing it up for usual)

Post by Guest on Thu Sep 15, 2011 5:16 pm

The conventional wisdom=(beltway projectile vomit) image of a Blue Dog Dem is a Dem who runs in a conservative state or district, and then bravely fights for Democratic principals while trying to appease the conservative constituents in their districts. This is absolute rubbish! What they actually do, is get elected, take safe votes when they are available, vote against every single proposal for actual change of the status quo, and quietly enrich themselves with campaign contributions from the big business lobbyists, who are the only base they really have. Occasionally they slip up and say something really crazy, like Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri did about unemployment back in April.

The other thing they do a great job of, is providing covering fire for other fake Democrats. Why just this morning, I heard the pundits on the television ‘news’ programs talking about how the Blue Dogs have ‘reservations’ about supporting the President’s weak ass ‘jobs’ proposal. Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virgina and Sen. Bob Casey of Pennsylvania among are others are out expressing ‘concern’ over the pathetic jobs bill claiming that it’s’ too big’….as if!
