The Zero Economy Empty The Zero Economy

Post by Guest Sat Sep 03, 2011 8:37 am

Do you hear me, Mr. President? Please -- be bold next week. And if, as expected, Republicans refuse to go along, take it to the people. Mobilize the public. Use the bully pulpit. That's what you have it for.

One more thing, Mr. President. You also have to tackle inequality. When so much income and wealth continues to flow to the very top, America's vast middle class still won't have enough purchasing power to boost the economy. Priming the pump is necessary but won't be sufficient without enough water in the well.

Another excellent article from Robert Reich. We need a bigger economic stimulus such as the WPA. To be started immediately.

Yes the government should be using this dirt cheap interest to do massive projects. 2 percent loan could be below the rate of inflation. I just started to read his need book. It is a true eye opener, just like his articles, but in more detail We have been lied too! The deficit and consumer debt did not cause this depression. It was caused by incompetent Wall Street bankers.

Reich was just using Great Recession, now for the first time in this article it is a Depression. A Depression can be back to back long Recessions. The Great Depression and Great Recession have many similarities. With Unemployment and Social Security causing the pain to be reduced in this one.

His new book can be found on Kindle, much less than bookstore price for immediate download.

I am waiting on approval for a 15 year mortgage at 3.75%. I am now on early SS, which allows me to obtain this loan. My retirement funds were almost wiped out and could have gone under. It was SS that saved me. Thank you FDR! Tea Party take note! Your totally wrong about not having the rich pay their fair share.

Please support me in a massive FAX attack after the President speech. We can use his phrases from his speech to wake up these politicians.

no new jobs created last month is very BAD! Stimulus is a short term fix but will not sustain economy for the future. We are in trouble!
We did a couple of stimulus and look at us now! Why would another one work??

two more points! One is alarming but not surprising! President said after jobs report and economy numbers and said "Its all hype" remember bumps in the road that continue, and suk it up, and hang in there,. How LONG do we hang in there??? . Is that denial or what????????? Then he makes another speech about transportation bill, Is transportation jobs the only problem we have in this economy? NO!!!! NO!!!! Sorry but Obama is so lost! Nothing is going to get fixed if he doesn't improve the total economy!! No ifs, ands or butts, whoops, thats buts!!!

transportation, rail and roads and bridges HELLO!!!!!! Its the ECONOMY STUPID!!!

My point is: He is fixated on those subjects when the problem is much larger than those subjects! He is targeting those that will reflect immediate reflections based on the stimulus handouts and will get results directly from those target jobs(rail, roads, roads&bridges). Then he can boast about all those targeted jobs, Ok but he knows he cannot improve the economy fast enough to have bragging rights for elections, so he is targeting those sectors for the most immediate results! I don't think they are going to create enough jobs for the millions of unemployed to even make a dent! Also he knows those sectors lay off in winter and wants to pump money in them to keep those who are lucky enough to have a job and possibly save their jobs example: In my county of Clark county Indiana, they have told the workers they are on furlough til first of next year! ! What is against him is its headed into fall and winter and not much goes on during this time frame! BUT I believe it is possible if those sectors mentioned had a stimulus okg. for them and another extension of tiers and extensions for 99er's while the rail, roads, bridges, starts to get back to work after winter and {along with extensions for unemployed including 99er's} , it may be possible that the moneys for those targets could ignite the economy enough to create some hiring! Its all about timing AND if the repubs. kill everything for their interest for 2012 elections also! So again caught in the middle of politics! They do not want anything to happen good in the economy while wanting to protect the rich at the same time. This is holding us hostage and also allowing the unemployeds to drop dead. That may also bite them in their As's !! I think they have stepped over the line too far over! I always say when the repubs. get so arrogant and cocky, it kills them at election time! This is where I laugh at them for being so ignorant! When they get so arrogant and cocky and react to the hurting and low class unemployed they spit in our faces and kick dirt in on us!! "President Zero" to the rescue:
Zero Job Growth Latest Bleak Sign for U.S. Economy
By SHAILA DEWAN
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/09/03/business/economy/united-states-showed-no-job-growth-in-august.html?_r=1&nl=todaysheadlines&emc=tha2

“We have virtually the same number of jobs as we did in January 2000,” said Patrick J. O’Keefe, the director of economic research at J. H. Cohn, an accounting firm. “Were jobs to continue to grow at the 2011 monthly average, it would take more than four years to return to the prerecession employment level.”

“There is really a darkening cloud that seems to hover over the U.S. economy because of the lack of progress being made,” said Bernard Baumohl, chief economist at the Economic Outlook Group. “There is extreme frustration with Congress and the administration not working together to address the fiscal issues.”

-"The general unemployment rate, which counts only people who looked for work in the previous four weeks, held steady at 9.1 percent. A broader measure that includes people who have looked for work in the last year and people who were involuntarily working part time instead of full time increased slightly to 16.2 percent. The percent of working-age adults who were employed, already at its lowest rate since 1983, was at 58.2 percent."

Please note desp: In the lower part of my topic I am a little supportive to the left and explain also what I feel about the repubs. motives!
Obama has bad plans but as I said about repubs. why not vote for them and if they work hey, he was right but if they don't then its more ammo to use against him. Instead they are blocking everything to keep things bad in this economy and that is terribly wrong! This reflects its about the repubs. and their special interest and not about the American people and those especially hurting and in need of jobs!

I don t know if this belongs in this topic but, I m watching Meet The Press. They are saying unemployment is an educational thing. Put up a chart that says unemployment rate for those with a BS or more is 4.2 percent. Guess I m the only one in that category not working!! MAD

It is B.S., nutty! Stupid people are so clueless! The more education you have, the harder it is to find ANY job, just to survive. There are no such things as decent paying jobs anymore.

Frustrated

Well, we all know how accurate the unemployment rates are! 4.2 percent is more like the educated people who are still working.

The more education AND the more experience you have, the harder it is to find a job because you're "too expensive" to hire, and therefore bigwigs don't want to hire you because it will cost their company more and reduce the money lining their pockets.
