Because this is a speech on jobs and more specifically: Unemployment. Fully half of the long term unemployed have been out of work for more than two years. The White House has been dancing around certain specific areas within the multi-layered unemployment problem. Time for that music to stop. They have tried to argue in the past the situation is “improving” because of the growth in private sector jobs since George Bush left office.
Now it’s time to get real.

Let this be your answer!! When we hear and read about comments such as Jim Demint and many repubs. say we are not looking or taking the jobs and we bilk the system, WHERE the he** is Obama standing in their faces and chastizing them for making hurtful comments that are very untrue and unfounded! If Obama can't take a stand for us and speak out for the unemployed how can we expect anything for 99er's or anyone else! Its because he is also catering to the tea partiers!Obama is playing the middle.. watch and see.. What president that says he cares for the unemployed and their situation but yet fails to stannd up to the tea party and repubs. to get them to back down from negative comments.. He Doesn't say anything!

Obama is a coward is what I have been saying from the beggining!! He has not stood up for the 99ers and I don't see him doing it any time soon! He has ignored us throughout his term and NOW that is term is coming to an end he is suddenly going to change his weak tune! I see this as a weak effort to get more voted because he knows we are angry and he is scared now!! To late ya coward,go get votes elsewhere because ya pissed off alot of americans and we (99ers) have had enough of your b.s You let everyone push you around! You are the damn president,act like it!

For what seems like the 1,000,000th time, Obama DOES NOT create legislation and is not resposible for the gridlock. Those of YOU that gave the REPUGS control of the House, and the clowns you put in office are!
As stated earlier in this thread, if one of YOURS gets elected next time, you have NO idea what we all are in for.

Thank you, nutty. I don't know why it is always Obama's fault. We have 3 branches of government, but any time something goes wrong, it blamed on one person. I'll admit that I was disappointed that he moved his speech to Thursday at the request of Boehner, but that is not going to change my mind about his presidency. It only reinforces my beliefs that the GO(T)P is trying to destroy our economic system and society. Hopefully, Americans will start to wake up to what is really going on. I know that during the debt ceiling game, a lot of people saw the other side for what they really are.

Thanks Desp and nutty. I really worry if some get their wish how they will feel when the Perry,Bachman,Romney crowd takes over. We all better be looking for an island to hide on, because we will all be in a work camp with a uniform and a number and first have to work off our debt to the government before we will earn what they think passes for a living wage.
It's kind of sad that the mentality is to blame anyone for circumstances which are out of control. It's a complete dream that one person or industry set this in motion, it was many things, starting years ago, so I guess we can blame many. It saddens me and quite frankly scares me, that some here think voting for a Republican, after all we have been through, will somehow make things better. It is just your blatant dislike of this President, and nothing more. We all know who is to blame for inaction and we all know, because we are intelligent human beings, that a President does not write legislation, Congress does. So, I wish all of you well, everyone wants their candidate to win, just please make sure you vote with intelligence. Anyone who refuses to help the poor, unemployed, elderly and service men and women, 9/11 first responders and worries about a budget and their own personal agenda isn't my candidate. Sacrifices will have to be made by all I am afraid, but there is a certain crowd, who if elected, will make sure that all the sacrifices come from only one group of people. What tune will you all be singing then. Four years is a long time to wait to kick someone out of office if you don't like what they are doing. Will you be happy then?

Don't see how it could be much worse! And BLAME! Obama said he inherited this and said also " all the bad luck he has endured" Japans earthquake, BP, irene and more! He has an excuse for every failure and none of it is his fault BUT he says "the buck stops here". Kinda talks outa both sides! yet, he wants illegal rights over unemployeds rights and read article where illegals bilked 2.4 billion by taking illegal tax credits. But remember the bucket of hot coals and the other bucket with ice and a hand sticking in both! Hum!!

I agree with 1208 in principle. Where is Obama as a progressive mouthpiece when it matters? I voted for someone who would stand up for liberal principles, not compromise at every turn. Where was he in Wisconsin? Where is he when Demint says that we all want to stay on food stamps?
I realize he can't speak about everything but something would be nice.
He will ramp it up this last year I'm sure but any effort he makes now will just look like he is trying to get re-elected. Even though I'm sure his efforts will be honest, it will still look like he is turning into candidate Obama just to win an election and then disappoint us all again.

Some of the blame has to fall on Obama's shoulders. However it started way back with Clinton and grew with Bush. Obama has done nothing to help the 99ers in the last 2 years. But at the same time the Congress and Senate have done nothing either except fight.
But when you have Boehner telling the President of the United States when he can address the nation and when he can't there is where the real problem is. Boehner is NOT THE PRESIDENT AND OBAMA NEEDS TO GROW A PAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
