**UPDATE** Rev. Al Sharpton and National Action Network (NAN) to Lead March for Jobs and Justice Oct 15th in Wash, DC

*(New York, NY) — Rev. Al Sharpton and National Action Network (NAN), along with partners in labor, education, civil rights, and clergy from across the country, will hold a mass march for jobs and justice on Saturday, August 27, 2011-the weekend of the historic unveiling of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial on the National Mall.

NEW MARCH DATE!! OCTOBER 15TH

The march, which will draw labor groups and civil rights organizations, is expected to bring thousands to the Mall on the day before the new memorial honoring the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. is officially dedicated, organizers said.

Sharpton — who is a civil rights activist, nightly TV host and staunch Obama ally — painted the march on Oct. 15 as an answer to Obama’s call to mobilize behind the jobs proposal he introduced two weeks ago and also as a refutation of the president’s critics.

“We will bring forth the masses who have not been heard in the midst of the jobs debate,” said Sharpton, who was flanked by leaders of the National Education Association, NAACP and other groups. “As the president fights for a jobs act, as supercommittees meet, they need to hear marching feet. This is to send a message to Congress.”

There are buses going from around the country. Here is the schedule:

http://www.nationalactionnetwork.net/media-info/press-releases/766-august-27th-march-and-rally-on-washington-bus-locations.html

Don't be discouraged if there is a cost for the bus trip. This organization is calling on its members to donate and sponsor individuals who want to go but can't afford it.

I will be calling tomorrow morning about the bus from Boston to DC ($70 round trip), I WANT TO BE IN WASHINGTON ON AUGUST 27!

Get involved - call your local chapter for more information and the sponsorship! It is time to take action!

The unveiling of the memorial for Dr. MARTIN Luther King Jr. could not come at a better time.

Finally the march we have been waiting for! Either Congress pays attention now or they won't have any jobs themselves. Power to the People!

Please check out the bus schedule - contact your area chapter and ask about being sponsored for the trip. We need to be heard, and as Rev. Al states, there is no more critical time than now!

I have to work

I really want to do this Crying or Very sad I would ask for the weekend off but I really cant afford it. I have to take my kids school shopping and need the $$.

I am happy this is finally happening...I just wish I could be involved!! I suggest that anyone who is free for this weekend call and try to get sponsored for the trip!!!! This is a great opportunity to be heard. PLUS you will get to witness the historic unveiling of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial on the National Mall!!!!

Im a bit teary eyed about it, this is what we have been wanting. People willing to sponsor and provide transportation is very hard to come by.

I just heard from the Boston Regional Director. I have to call his office tomorrow morning about the subsidy, and the possibility of adding another bus from Providence. Don't care if I don't eat for a week! I am going!

As NAN prepares for the historic August 27th March on Washington, Rev. Al Sharpton has announced that Rev. Dr. W. Franklyn Richardson, Senior Pastor of Grace Baptist Church & Chairman of the Board of National Action Network, Lee A. Saunders, Secretary-Treasurer of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO (AFSCME), and Randi Weingarten, President of American Federation of Teachers (AFT), have signed on as Co-Chairs of the march. Pastor Willie F. Wilson from Union Temple Baptist Church will be the National Director of the march.

Rally for "JOBS & JUSTICE"

National Action Network
& Rev. Al Sharpton

to lead a march August 27th to commemorate the work and life of
Dr. Martin Luther King the weekend of the King Memorial unveiling on the National Mall

August 27th March and Rally on Washington Bus Locations
http://www.nationalactionnetwork.net/media-info/press-releases/766-august-27th-march-and-rally-on-washington-bus-locations.html

When you call, ask about a 'sponsorship' for the trip! NAN is asking for donations from its members so those that cannot afford to will be able to attend!
Also your charitable contributions of
$5, $10, or $15 is welcome and can be used sponsor an individual to go in your place.

If you aren't working, your city or town is on the list where the buses will depart from and you have a chance to go for free -WHAT IS THE EXCUSE FOR NOT GOING? This is what we have been waiting and hoping for, please, if there is anyway you can participate in this march, be there on Saturday, August 27!

We need to be heard and this is our chance! Please take advantage of this opportunity!

Just saw on the Weather Channel that this may be delayed. All the states surrounding DC have declared states of emergency.

Hopefully if it is delay, more people will be able to attend at a later date.
