Does the entire federal EB program expire Jan 1 2012 if no new law is passed ??

The reason i ask is i just got laid off in Mass.and only worked 36 weeks since i was last laid off and just found out i will only get 16 weeks of benefits..There is a good chance i will be called back in February which is just about when my funds will end.If there is a new bill that would extend benefits beyond what Mass offers, would i qualify for federal extensions even though i only worked 36 weeks and only accumulated 16 weeks on benefits..I hope i explained the situation correctly, keep the faith...

The last day to start a new tier of benefits under EUC08 is December 24. After that date, you will finsish what ever federal tier you are on and that will be it. There are a few states that continue state EB after the federal extensions expire, you should check if your state is one of them.

In your case, if you are just beginning your initial 16 weeks of regular state benefits, if the federal program is not reauthorized, there will be no extensions.

Yes, but not the full amount of weeks for each tier. It would be based, just as your state UI is based, on the number of weeks and earnings.
