Connecticut:
Layoff notices continued to go out to state employees Wednesday, even as Gov. Dannel Malloy's administration talked with union leaders to try and avoid the job cuts.

An additional 328 employees got pink slips this week, according to Malloy's office. Last month, union members voted down a $1.6 billion concession agreement, which prompted Malloy to issue the layoff notices. In all, more than 6,500 state employees are slated to lose their jobs.

State Street cutting 850 technology jobs, most of them in Bay State

State Street Corp. said yesterday it will cut 850 jobs, including 558 in Massachusetts, as it launches a second major round of layoffs in less than a year.

This is going on everywhere - between Cisco, NASA, Lockheed, Borders, Boeing, more state government employees, etc. it is getting much worse. If Congress doesn't reauthorize the "existence" of 32,000 FAA employees by the end of the month, they will be added to the ranks of the unemployed.

God help us if this is really "Round 2"! I am still stuck in Round 1 with millions of others - and we cannot let Washington forget about us this time!

Well said. Those of us stuck in Round 1, and without benefits much less jobs are now really at the bottom of the heap.

If we want this to change, we have to make it change, they can't get their act together to save the country from a financial meltdown, what are they going to do for us? Nothing. We will have to force the issue. More Lay-offs in New England 34243
