Is Mitch McConnell right about the GOP brand?
Now, some prominent Republicans are worried that the tempestuous talks between congressional leaders and the White House over raising the debt ceiling could strip the GOP of some of its hard-won luster. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said the failure to reach a deal, forcing the government to default on its financial obligations, could have devastating consequences for the party. He recalled the federal government shutdown under former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich that helped then-President Clinton, a Democrat, win a second term.
A Quinnipiac University survey this week found that most voters disapprove of how the president is handling the economy, but they trust him more than congressional Republicans. Voters will blame Republicans over Obama, 48 percent to 34 percent, if the debt limit is not raised, according to the poll.
“If default pushes us over the brink, then all of a sudden Republicans will get the blame even though Obama put us in this position,’’ he said. “There will be a price to pay.’’

Re: Is Mitch McConnell right about the GOP brand?
He is a man that is really hard to like, but I do believe he is right, the public will blame the Republicans. He is wrong that President Obama but the country there and no one should forget that. Senator McConnell is well connected and made that speech after reportedly catching hell from every business you can think of and from the call reported, pretty much every Republican was told to get their house in order. Our problem isn't just defaulting, it's losing our AAA credit rating which will kill any chance of even this "barely there" recovery, but the IMF can start raising interest rates on our debt to income ratio as well. But they brought this on themselves, they saw the contributions coming in for the tea party evangelists and united, now they are stuck with them and they can't control them. Unfortunately, the Bachmann's, Cantors and Ryans are not "world" players. They really don't get the consequences of their actions because they would be happy with us being completely seperate from the rest of the world, then they could push their agenda down everyone's throat and the rest of the world would be no wiser.
What will they continue to vote one, Gays in the Military, Same Sex Marriages, Abortions, Dissolution of the EPA (that damn job killer???). Jobs, Economy, no problem. Just reduce some more taxes!! Who are they kidding?

Amen to that MaryKay. They better quit listening to their corporate masters and pay attention to the will of the majority of the American people. The GOP's big victory in 2010 has done nothing but ruin what little image they had left....I pity the fools, they are on the road to Perdition.
