Hidden Lies in the June Jobs report
So, you've seen the June jobs report by now. According to the Obama administration's official figures, only a net 18,000 jobs were added in June. In evaluating that, remember that we need to add 150,000 new jobs per month just to keep up with new workers entering the workforce, before we can even start making any headway on putting the unemployed back to work.
Well, that 18,000 is a lie. The truth is that the net number of jobs added was negative. The economy actually lost 157,000 jobs. Yes. The truth is not +18K but rather -157K...

Re: Hidden Lies in the June Jobs report
I read your link to your own post on your blog and also the attached article. The NY Post reporter that you linked to offers no evidence at all that what he is saying is true. I actually don't think it makes much difference either way but stating something doesn't make it true.

That was one of my points. That is why I said it didn't really matter, 18,000 is nothing.

18,000 amounts to 360 per state, assuming it's correct.

Re: Hidden Lies in the June Jobs report
The odds were 18,000/18,000,000 to round out the numbers.
That is 1/1,000 odds in finding a job. Since the other ones don't apply, because they partially worked the month.
If you got hired, 999 unemployed did not. Does not seam fair. There are always going to be new jobs. Since people quit, die and retire. These need to be constantly replaced. That is why more have to die or retire. No real job growth this month. It is a shame that in order to work someone must die. The retired person is very happy.
Perhaps that is why the Republicans want to eliminate all social programs.

Re: Hidden Lies in the June Jobs report
My friends, you're missing the point.
The actual number was not an 18,000 job gain. The actual number was a loss of 157,000 jobs.
It isn't just that we are failing to gain ground, we are actually slipping backwards at a frightening rate.

I think you are missing the point possum, it's not that I am saying it isn't true. I just have no reason, from your blog post, or from the article that it cited, to think that it IS true.
The bottom line is I am not sure it matters because 18,000 is so few jobs that it doesn't matter if there were zero. We have had a rough month, maybe next month will be better.

Re: Hidden Lies in the June Jobs report
Now that this has been mentioned, usually the jobs report comes out at 8:30 Eastern on the 1st Friday in the month. June 1st was the Ist Friday in July, & was not any kind of a holiday. This report came out a week late, & had a revision for May down to 25.000 jobs. Doesn't that seem peculiar.

If you read the linked blog entry above, they moved 44,000 jobs from May to June, in order to get the June number into positive territory. They revised May down by 44,000 jobs, and added those into June.
