The Federal government added 1,400 jobs in Maryland, a sign that job growth generated by Base Realignment and Closure is picking up before the September 2011 deadline. Despite positive growth in the state's labor force, Maryland lost more than 13,000 payroll jobs in May, including 15,300 private sector jobs.
Direct from Md. DLLR..yet Unemployment Rate was unchanged and then they go on to brag how Md.'s Unemployment Rate continues to go down.

This is nothing new. It's been going on for a year or longer now. Ma ui rate went down and folks lost 7 more weeks of EB.

BRAC was supposed to "save" Maryland! What happened? I was considering staying on there when I lived there for a few months in 2009 caring for my dad. All that was in the newspapers were stories about BRAC and the new jobs that were coming with it. That was in the beginning of the "great recession" and MD's ue rate was significantly lower than RI's (and still is). Glad I didn't stay! You are no better off than we are!
