Boehner warns of jobs 'jeopardy' if US defaults
"The situation that we face is pretty urgent. Matter of fact, I think I would describe it as dire," Boehner, who was due to meet with President Barack Obama and other congressional leaders on Sunday, said at his weekly press conference.
The lawmaker warned against tip-toeing up to an August 2 deadline on the debt, stressing: "I frankly think it puts us in an awful lot of jeopardy and puts our economy in jeopardy, risking even more jobs."
"So I believe it's important that we come to an agreement, but it has to be an agreement that really does fundamentally change our spending and our debt situation," he said.

Re: Boehner warns of jobs 'jeopardy' if US defaults
I can't play golf this Sunday. I have to cancel all my Tee times until they breakdown and accept that you can't raise taxes on the rich. Think the President can meet me on the golf course after Church? We played two weeks ago. This will not lead to the deficit. I promise I will let him cheat and not tell. Don't tell Joe this, he is a sore loser.
If I get them drunk enough, they will push grandma off the cliff and all the exhaustees under the bus.
Just kidding around. We all need a humor break!

Re: Boehner warns of jobs 'jeopardy' if US defaults
So, Boehner this all about YOU is it? If YOU don't get YOUR WAY, you will act like a spoiled little brat child and try your darndest to destroy the economy and then LIE about it turning the blame onto Obama, eh? So, now it is Obama's fault because the GOP is refusing to make a deal on ANY tax increases and Obama is accused of "running out the clock" when the entire world knows it is the GOP! Nice right wing stupidity thinking and how patriotic is this? To purposely destroy the US and world economy over the hatred this man has for Obama? Please! THIS IS NOT WHAT AN ELDER STATESMAN DOES AND ACTS!

If Speaker Boehner was so concerned about Jobs,Jobs,Jobs, he wouldn't be trying to still grant useless, additional tax breaks to companies. He would be working with all members of Congress to create job legislation. He is far too busy pushing the Tea Party agenda because apparently he thinks they are the future and they are the key to his re-election because he's so busy trying to keep his job, he's not doing his job, the one the good people of Ohio sent him to Washington to do.

Well said. I agree with every word. But don't forget to blame McConnell and Cantor while you're at it; they're like the three witches in MacBeth,
"Round about the cauldron go;
In the poison'd entrails throw.
Toad, that under cold stone
Days and nights has thirty-one
Swelter'd venom sleeping got,
Boil thou first i' the charmed pot.
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and cauldron bubble."

I agree in principle to what you are saying. If he really thought it was so dire that the debt ceiling be raised then he could put forth and pass a standalone bill with nothing on it. This is the situation Obama should put him in, raise it or don't.
I don't know if it is about hate for Obama though, I think he just wants a republican to win the white house next year.
Maybe they should play a round of golf for who gets their way. I heard Biden is really good.

We have heard him say more than once, the President is the leader, well, he is the Speaker, he can't make a deal because his is afraid of losing the Tea Party suppport, period, end of story. He is worried about his job. Over the last 8 months I have listened to politicos, newsmakers, Wash insiders all make the simple statement that these Tea Partiers have no idea how to make a deal or how to negotiate, and Speaker Boehner is allowing them to continue this because he's afraid as are the rest of the Republican Party, that if the Tea Party splits from them they lose votes and money. For all intents and purposes, Eric Cantor might as well be the Speaker. He makes these statements, but he will do nothing to compromise and make a deal with the Bachmanns, Cantors, Ryans biting at his ankles.
If they were truly concerned, they would put aside politics, theater, personal beliefs, party stances and listen to what every economist and financial guru has told them for the last year, spend some, cut little and work with the private sector to get them to hire, remind them of the reason they are still enjoying salaries and profits and put some pressure where it needs to be placed. I would love to be able to listen to the phone calls being received from the Financial Leaders in Germany, France, Italy,Spain, Japan, China. Bloomberg addressed this yesterday morning, how they are really applying the pressure for this to settle as well, as it will most definitely trickle down and end badly if they don't do it soon. But we play political theater, nothing should be voted on, debated etc until this is settled. They think this is a joke and we look like a joke. Congress is taking up legislation to slow the process of gays openly serving in the military??? We settled this last year. It's signed. Move on. The people have spoken.They are pushing THEIR agenda on this, not the peoples, as usual. I guess the debt ceiling is not that important to the anti-gay people. Poverty is okay, homelessness is okay, high unemployment is okay, but gay isn't. I have not seen one story done on the senseless things they are addressing while this looms over us. Sorry for the rant, but they are just too damn smug for my taste.

I am voting for the monkey, he makes more sense. He could be paid in a banana. He would not know what money is. Time to get back to basics.

I think what makes me so angry, is that we are being prevented from working. It is ok to discriminate against us, which eliminates us from many of the few existing openings- so it's a double whammy directed at us to keep us out of the workforce. Then we are BLAMED & PUNISHED for being out of work. We are called lazy, beggars ...Then we are robbed of our belongings, our skills aren't quite as fresh as if we were using them OTJ and...I don't know...It's wrong, it's abusive, it's wrong...but it exists

Now there's a good third-party option.
But, please forgive me, that's not a monkey. It's a chimpanzee, which is an ape. More specifically, a Great Ape

Yes, I totally agree. We have been screwed, blued, and tattooed.
We have been betrayed for 30 pieces of silver, and we didn't even get a kiss, let alone a last supper.

Remember the movies and TV show, "Planet of the Apes." It might be there time to take over.
Perhaps if The Speaker of the House goes ape, this could happen. They all keep monkeying around and nothing gets done.
