IRS and owed taxes
I just received a second bill for my 2010 taxes due with a notice to pay by June 30th. I called them and discussed my options and they said I could be set up on payments OR also then could make my account noncollectable since I am unemployed and in bad health and unemployable and I would get a Bill every twelve months and the bills would incur penalty and interest every month. But my penalty and interest is only 12/ per month. So I requested a noncollectable status and they sent through a request and I will hear within 30 days if I have been approved. I figure surely within 12 mos. I MAY have something come through and may be able to pay my taxes before twelve mos. But if I don't have any luck then I after 12 mos and receive my 12 mo. statement I probably will request an installment plan , because by then maybe my finances will change that I can pay my tax due or at least go on payment plan!! At least I have 12 mos. to not worry about paying my taxes and another 144.00 is worth the additional time to pay! I just hope they approve my noncollectable plan. BTW!!! If they put you in "noncollectable" you will forever owe that tax and every year the balance will accrue interest and penalty. That debt NEVER goes away! If one gets set up on that program"Noncollectable" if they audit and find you found a job or came into some money they will demand payment...So it would be a good idea to try to pay the debt as soon as possible. Thanks Desperate!!!! You info helped by informing me on options!!! Thanks!
