Exhausting Tier 3.. What lies ahead?
A question for those who are/were on EB.
I will be receiving my last full check of $625 on tier 3 EUC this week and I have a remaining balance of $130. I know that 20 weeks of EB is the next step. Will I automatically move right into EB and it will make up the difference from the $130 so I get a full weeks benefits, like when moving between previous tiers? Or do I have to call and apply for EB? Is there a period of waiting while they process a transition onto EB? Is there any reason why I won't be able to continue onto EB?
Thanks in advance for your help. It is stressful not knowing what to expect for the next few weeks.

HI Ironick, thats strange you have a remaining balance. You shouldnt have a remaining balance. As far as transitioning to EB you do not have to call them and you should be receiving a letter in the mail shortly about the requirements for EB, such as the job search requirements and such.
Ma unemployment rate keeps dropping (due to 99ers) but MA still qualifies for EB. There is no longer a tierIV for MA due to the dropped unemployment rate, so essentially if you don't find work, you will be a 93er and not a 99er. Get a back up plan in place now as the 20 weeks goes by fast, and the longer you are out of work the harder it is to even get an interview, never mind a job.
I claimed my last week of EB today, so I am OFFICIALLY a 99er..
Best of luck to you, and stick around the forum and help fight for additional benefits seeing as the jobs are not there still.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yea, for some reason my final weeks of UI, and Tiers 1, 2, 3 were all less than my full benefit. Then the first payment of the next tier would make up the difference in the same week. So I guess I should expect the same for EB as well.

Good to hear that you will get EB. I also did not get a tier 4, and then when the state qualified to trigger EB - they told us to basically hit the dump pile. They told the gov't they didn't want the money, the same as what some other states have done, or want to do. So, hang in there, I know you probably have a plan.

I am exhausting my Tier 3 as of July. Unfortunately, I took on a part time job back in Nov and Dec. The company lead me to believe it could go full time and after cleaning up their year-end backlog, told me I wouldn't be working there any longer. DUA gave me Tier III at full rate till it exhausted, but now have told me that because I was let go from PT position, it triggered a new claim and my EB benefits would be reduced to 15 weeks not 20 and I lost about $150/wk in my benefit rate. I really feel as if I got screwed but needing health benefits, I'm afraid to ask for a hearing. I think the company never intended to keep me on in any capacity but only wanted to solve their deadline crisis that they were facing. The job I originally applied for was given to someone else and they proposed that they "try me on" for this totally unrelated position.
