The brutal job market brought on by the recession has been hard on everyone, but especially devastating on the youngest members of the labor force.

About 60% of recent graduates have not been able to find a full-time job in their chosen profession, according to job placement firm Adecco.

And for those just entering the workplace, a bout of long-term unemployment can affect their career plans for years to come.

Yes, some days I think it's so difficult for our twentysomethings just starting out. Then I think it's the thirtysomethings wanting to marry and start families. Then I think it's the forties who already have families and the fifties trying to stay in work force and launch their college-age kids. THEN I relate to those sixties who have a long time of dreams and plans crushed and torn and aren't supposed to mind as much!! AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY RECESSION... Crying or Very sad

Teen spending affected by the recession, personalmoneystore.com/moneyblog. They have a heightened awareness of financial issues than they did four years ago. Most said they were more appreciative of the things they have and are less likely to spend impulsively. It seems clear that the great recession has changed the mindset of teens. It has given these ‘Recession Generation’ youth a deeper appreciation for what they have and how hard their parents work. This may be the silver lining to the economic downturn.
