The ongoing economic recovery is in trouble.

Following a report Tuesday that home prices have now tumbled further from their peak than during the Great Depression, there was evidence Wednesday that the economic rebound from the worst recession since World War II may be sputtering.

The manufacturing sector, one of the few bright spots leading the recovery since the recession ended in June 2009, slowed sharply in May, according to a report Wednesday from the Institute for Supply Management. The survey of purchasing managers showed that after nearly two years of uninterrupted growth, the index posted its biggest drop since 1984, to the slowest pace in 20 months.

This has been reported on msnbc, abc, nbc and cbs since last Sunday, however, it's almost being reported as an "oh and by the way". Seems to me there should be more coverage from the press and more attention being paid by Congress and the Senate. However, as sad as this is, it may be what we need to get the attention of the very people who can help us.

If you all remember, and I am sure you do, for almost 2 years prior to the housing collapse and the subsequent laying off of American Workers, this was being under-reported as an "oh by the way" on most stations with the exception of Bloomberg, who always has the movers and shakers, and they were being touted as "fear mongers". Scary, but we all new this was coming, because employed Americans pay very little attention to what is really happening, while they are picking up a check every week or every two weeks, but it's a different story once it happens to them. Just wait. All those who blog and comment and refer to us a stupid, lazy, druggies, leaches and on and on, will suddenly being hanging on to every extension, employment figure and will then become very educated.
