Twelve-year-old Deamonte Driver died of a toothache Sunday.
A routine, $80 tooth extraction might have saved him.
If his mother had been insured.
If his family had not lost its Medicaid.
If Medicaid dentists weren't so hard to find.
If his mother hadn't been focused on getting a dentist for his brother, who had six rotted teeth.
OH MY GOD!!!

I couldn't read it all. ... and they want to keep on cutting!!!
read this on another thread, very disturbing but great type of story for us as whole as many of us fit this same situation in many ways, no health insurance, no medicaid, no dental of course and possibility or currently facing tooth/gum issues looming in near future. just gives me more ammunition and fire to keep plugging along durign mentally exhaustin/draining days when can get negative especially like today during job searching ughh...

Its so sad I can barely stand it. The poor mother works 3 jobs
Ironically I signed back into the internet to see if I could get some dental care for gingivitis and came here first. I don’t understand how this could happen!!!
