The Wageless Recovery Empty The Wageless Recovery

Post by Guest Tue Apr 26, 2011 7:20 pm

Corporations are simultaneously finding ways to cut the pay of their
remaining U.S. workers -- not just threatening job losses if they don't
agree to the cuts, but also automating the work or sending it to
non-union states. (The Wall Street Journal's editorial page, an
unremittingly reliable barometer of Street thought, argued earlier this
week that such states offer workers the freedom to choose whether to
join a union -- in reality, the freedom to lose even more bargaining
power and be forced to accept even lower wages.)

America's jobless recovery is becoming a wageless recovery. That puts
the odds of another recession greater than the risk of inflation. Wall
Street and its representatives in Washington don't understand -- or
don't want to.

I was making $35+ per hour (with very good benefits) as an Electrical Engineer, and am now willing to be a Cable TV tech for $10 per hour (with no benefits) and can't even get an interview! They are always looking for tech's and I get no response at all! I even dumbed down my resume changed my address and phone #, and I still get nothing. And I'm talking about at least 25+ applications over a 2 year period.
Maybe they are only looking for former NASA Engineer's......

Wall Street and its representatives in Washington don't understand -- or don't want to.

Oh they understand alright, that's the plan, low wages as low as they can get them. Just look at the whopping .04 increase in the minimum wage in Florida to 7.25 as an example.

The bill, by Sen. Nancy Detert, R-Venice, has the backing of Florida’s business lobby............

Detert replied that “most of us do not agree there’s inflation” and she said that the increase to $7.25 is “about as fair as you can get in this world today.”
