There are Care Packages for College Students, Veterans overseas, and Far Away Friends and Loved Ones. So why not Care Packages for the 99ers?

We have numerous people across the nation who have been without any means of support for so long they cannot afford bus fair for a job interview or repair their broken down cars to get to a job. Even people who are working cannot afford the high cost of gasoline, let alone those without any means of paying for it. And many do not have the means to look presentable for even a job interview. Many men cannot afford a hair cut or shaving supplies, many do not have soap to wash up with or even to clean their clothes. Many have holes in their clothes and shoes wearing out. And the 99ers ladies like to look nice too, a little make-up and decent clothes. And this is just a few of the problems they face.

Some Care packages are expensive because they contain a lot of frills in them and expensive fancy packaging and expensive luxury items.

Were as the Care packages for the 99ers would be in plain boxes or containers and would consist of just the everyday necessities for survival.

And would be more cost effective.

Maybe a voucher for clothes, a supermarket gift card for food, a voucher for a free haircut, soap, shampoo, tooth brush and paste, toilet paper, washing powder, etc. All the things a person needs to survive and to look presentable for a job interview. Plus maybe a Free Bus pass.

Volunteers could make up the packages and delivery them to the 99ers, thus saving the shipping fees. Maybe some Senior Citizens or Ladies Clubs or Teenagers or College students would be interested in volunteering for this.

Plus maybe some businesses or stores would be willing to donate some of the things needed. And would get paid back by the publicity they would get when they are mentioned in the news media.

These packages for the 99ers could either be shipped to their address or at a place where the 99ers could come to pick up. By using the U.S. Postal Service, the cost of shipping could be kept low. And the 99ers E-mail address would be beneficial if anyone needs to contact them regarding their order. This would be just for those 99ers who can’t afford bus fair and have no means of transportation. Most would be required to come pick up their Care package and show proof that they are a 99er.

These people desperately need this help until either unemployment benefits bills are passed or a lot more jobs are created. Until then a 99er Care Package could be a life saver.

You know why this won't be? It is because you, IT Tech, Office Manager, Consultant, you middle Americans who lost their jobs, are no longer one of them and they don't want to know about you, why? Because, next it could be them and they don't want to think about that. I don't mean to be harsh, it is a wonderful idea, it is just the reality of today. D&C

But there are still some caring people out there.
And it does not look like H.R. 589 has much chance of passing.
So we got to try to do something to help many desparate people out there that may not get any other help.
I at least have two news reporters interested.
And one says she will do a story on this as soon as she gets a chance.
And the other one who is host of a radio show on unemployment and a news blog site invited me to post this on her news site.

Some Girl Scouts came by yesterday with green plastic bags being left asking for donations of personal toiletries like soap, toothbrushes, shampoo, baby items, etc. and at the top of the list TP. It says it's for items those on SNAP cannot buy.

I have received one roll of TP, some travel size shampoo and bar of soap at a food pantry I went to last year. But I am glad the Girl Scouts are doing the 2011 Personal Care Items Drive. It's similar to the Boy Scouts food drive. They leave the bags and then pick them up on a set date. Usually the following week.

Those drives use massive amounts of scouts, transportation and warehouse space as well as distribution logistics.

If we can get the word out to enough people all over the nation about
Care Packages for the 99ers, maybe all different people at once could get on the ball with this idea. Most likely it is just that no one has thought of it before. So it needs the word to get it around. I have been contacting some of the trusted news reporters. Like the Examiner.com Unemployed news. But they have a new system for posting comments on their sites and for some reason I can't post there anymore. So I have to send the reporters an Email message. The word would spread more if we could post comments about it on the Examiner news sites in different states. I also contacted a Huffington Post reporter, but so far have not received a reply from him. I did get back replies from two Examiner reporters so far, who said they think it is a good idea. And the idea of the Girl and Boy Scouts doing this is great too. Now we need to get the word out to some Women's Clubs and Senior Citizen volunteers. In fact to any Volunteer organizations. Maybe to United Way and the Red Cross. And contact some Stores and Corporations and see if they would be willing to donate some food, clothes, toiletries what ever to the cause.

I just posted on a facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/133354446686732/381107631911411/?notif_t=group_activity about others helping out etc I say keep it simple. basic care packages for female or male and a clickable link for donations then have a area for a forum so the unemployed can post reasonable needed requests. Of course the page can also bring in advertisers for funds and other pages like the free car page. I'm a 99er. I have not had a job since July 2009 and haven't had a decent job since July 2007. It's been a living HELL trying to survive on one income , that being my boyfriends, who works at a privately owned nursing home /rehabilitation center as a CNA. He makes $8.93 a hour and rarely is allowed to work extras hours, never scheduled for full time even though he is a full time employee. He has a bad habit of hoarding so I have multiples of items we do not need, that led me to looking for a outlet on how to give items to others in need. Then I searched Google and found this page. The UI numbers are being faked. We are in a Depression and more Americans are losing their jobs by the day. We need to help each other as much as we can, since our govt has failed us.

This may be a good place to get the word out.

D&C, some people in jobs now, eventually will be in the same boat as us, since we are finding that our experience no longer retains equity, companies won't value theirs either in maybe five to ten years. Getting rid of experienced people when companies gotten all they can out of them will be habitual. Dump them for younger and cheaper hires.

They just want to keep their heads in the sand until it happens to them.
