The main good thing is all of the state's republicans voted in favor of the bill. Ig Christie had any slights against this (which he shouldn't since it's teh federal governments money), im sure state republican lawmakers would not have voted in favor of it passing

Am I correct in assuming that this would help ALL people on unemployment in the state of NJ? Like those who have exhausted all other benefits? Sounds like, but who knows.

No, it is the state EB for those that have exhausted all their Federal tiers. A lot of states are reducing the number of weeks of regular unemployment and cutting out state EB altogether. North Carolina, with an unemployment rate of 9.7% will be stopping EB payments on April 16. Approximately 37,000 people currently on the program will be cut off.

It passed 78-0. So they can probably override a veto from Christie.

No, this is state EB. It does not affect the 99ers at all.

There was no peep of opposition against the fix since it's jsut a fix to the current unemployment extension program to stay on Extended Benefits. NJ has no money to lose on this since this 100% underwritten by the government and the money is already accounted for. This potentially could effect 200k people in NJ.

NJ would trigger off EB after the May 20th State Unemployment report from the BLS. So Christie has plenty of time to sign the bill. I'm expecting that he will. Some say he's in the same mold as the Ohio and Wisconsin Governors, to which he may but he also is level headed. He doesn't support stripping collective bargaining etc.

If he had one reservation against this bill, virtually no republican would have voted along with the state democrats to pass this bill in sweeping fashin in both the state assembly and senate. The quick passage of this bill in the Assembly and senate show they know it has to be done.

I would say on a scale of 1-10, I am about on an 8 on terms of confidence he will sign it. With 9.2% unemployment in NJ, he has no grounds not to.

He has to sign it. EVERYONE in his party voted for it. If he vetoes it his career will be ruined. He will probably sign and then say that he gave extended unemployment benefits to the people in his state.

Christie doesn't care if he looks bad. If he wiped his *** with the bill and set it ablaze it wouldn't surprise me.

He's going to sign the bill. It's at no cost to the state, his own party members all voted for it. IF there was any chance he was against it, it wouldnt have passed both state houses with no opposition

Register here as a 99er in order to put together local rallies, to start with. As of last Tuesday, there were less than three hundred people registered. We aren't going to be able accomplish much with that kind of participation.
