Correspondance from legislatures

I just got this letter today from CA senator Diane Feinstein...

Well at least this time they actually addressed my request for the need for another Tier. I usually get some cookie cutter esc. generic letter that doesn't lend an ear to what I sent them.

I do however think it's funny to actually bring up S.3706 Stabenows bill since they didn't do enough to make it materialize.

What ever happened to Stabenow?????? I know she got some new committees after the elections and now it seems as if she has completely bailed out on unemployment????? It's like she has been hushed or something. Any way...below is what I received.



Dear Mr. Pfarr:



Thank you for writing in support of a fifth tier extension of unemployment insurance (UI) benefits. Your correspondence is important to me, and I welcome the opportunity to respond.



I understand the difficulties that many Californians face when their UI benefits expire. UI benefits are crucial in providing assistance to unemployed individuals while they search for work. Our state has been particularly hard hit by the economic downturn and faces an unemployment rate of 12.5 percent, with more than 2.2 million Californians out of work.



Since the economic downturn began in 2008, Congress has enacted several measures related to UI benefits, and has extended the possible duration of UI benefits to a maximum of 99 weeks, which I have supported. Most recently, the "Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010" (Public Law 111-312), which I voted in favor of, was signed into law December 17, 2010. This law extended income tax cuts for all families for two years, and expanded UI benefits through January 3, 2012.



Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) introduced the "Americans Want to Work Act" (S. 3706) in the 111th Congress, which would have created an additional tier of benefits for individuals who have exhausted their UI benefits. The 111th Congress adjourned on December 22, 2010 without passing S.3706. Accordingly, this legislation must be reintroduced to be considered in the 112th Congress, which convened on January 5, 2010. Additionally, in an effort to stimulate job creation, the Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment Act of 2010 (Public Law 111-147) was signed into law on March 18, 2010. I also voted in favor of this legislation, which provides $15 billion in payroll tax forgiveness for employers hiring and retaining new workers, and expands the Build America Bonds program to help state and local governments secure funding for infrastructure projects. Please know I am doing everything I can at the Federal level to create job opportunities.

This just proves how much the Senate cares about extended unemployment benefits. They still have yet to re-introduce S.3706.

Actually I think your letter is from Diane Feinstein not Barbara Boxer. Doesn't really matter though. As far as form letters go i thought it was pretty good. At least it addressed the problem

Your right I meant Feinstein....NOT Boxer. But either way I thought it was the first time they acutally addressed an issue in the form of an answer to what I actually asked. But in the same matter as my beloved democrats always do, they say they are on borad and advocate then flounder out?????
